Requirements
  • A Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, a related engineering field, Computer Science, or Biomedical Engineering, with specialization in image processing, signal processing, or inverse problems.
  • Master's degree holders with demonstrated research credentials in artificial intelligence are encouraged to apply.
  • Expertise in deep learning and computer vision or image processing, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Keras is required.
  • Experience with generative artificial intelligence techniques, including diffusion models, generative adversarial networks, foundation vision models, multimodal models, and large language models.
  • Experience applying generative artificial intelligence to medical imaging use cases such as image synthesis, image reconstruction, report generation, data augmentation, segmentation, and clinical workflow automation.
  • Familiarity with vision-language models, retrieval-augmented generation, and multimodal artificial intelligence systems for healthcare applications.
  • Basic understanding of medical imaging or biology.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the ideation, development, and validation of artificial intelligence-driven image analytics technologies for next-generation healthcare products, software, and services, focusing on early-stage innovation.
  • Design and develop computer vision, image processing, signal processing, and machine learning algorithms for medical imaging modalities including magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, ultrasound, X-ray, and physiological monitoring systems.
  • Research and implement advanced deep learning and generative artificial intelligence techniques to address medical imaging and clinical workflow challenges.
  • Develop physics-informed artificial intelligence models by integrating imaging physics with machine learning to improve image quality, reconstruction, segmentation, detection, and clinical decision support.
  • Build rapid prototypes, proof-of-concepts, and technology demonstrators to evaluate technical feasibility, performance, and potential business impact.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, product teams, engineering organizations, and business stakeholders to identify unmet needs and translate research outcomes into scalable healthcare innovations.
  • Evaluate emerging research trends and technologies in computer vision, generative artificial intelligence, multimodal learning, and medical imaging, identifying opportunities for intellectual property and competitive advantage.
  • Drive research excellence through publication-quality work, invention disclosures, patent generation, and technical leadership within the organization and scientific community.
  • Design experiments, establish validation methodologies, and benchmark artificial intelligence models using appropriate datasets and clinical performance metrics to ensure scientific credibility and reproducibility.
  • Contribute to the architecture and implementation of scalable artificial intelligence solutions using PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Keras across diverse computing platforms.
  • Mentor junior scientists and engineers by providing technical guidance, fostering innovation, promoting best practices, and cultivating a collaborative research culture.
  • Partner with global cross-functional research teams to execute interdisciplinary projects combining artificial intelligence, imaging science, physics, software engineering, and clinical expertise.
  • Support technology transfer by collaborating with product engineering teams to mature research prototypes toward commercialization.
  • Champion scientific rigor, ethical artificial intelligence practices, and regulatory awareness in AI-enabled healthcare solutions.

GE HealthCare launches Invenia ABUS Prime and StreamVue for breast cancer screening

GE HealthCare has launched Invenia ABUS Prime and ABUS StreamVue, expanding its breast imaging portfolio with solutions for supplemental screening in women with dense breasts. The Invenia ABUS Prime system has been installed at BeSound in Los Angeles, marking one of the first US installations. ABUS StreamVue is a browser-based reading solution enabling remote exam review across imaging networks. The system received FDA 510(k) clearance and CE Marking. Studies show 40% of women have dense breasts, carrying four to six times higher breast cancer risk. Research indicates mammography may miss one-third of cancers in dense breasts. Invenia ABUS Prime features AI-enabled tools including Scan Quality Assessment and can increase scan speed by up to 40%. The AI Assistant has demonstrated a 33% reduction in reading time.

GE HealthCare beats profit estimates on imaging demand and $129M tariff refunds

GE HealthCare exceeded Wall Street's second-quarter profit estimates, driven by robust demand for diagnostic and imaging devices and tariff refunds from the Trump administration. The medical device maker reported net income of $561 million, up from $486 million last year, which included $129 million in tariff refunds. Revenue reached $5.30 billion for the quarter ending 30 June, surpassing the estimated $5.26 billion. Sales in imaging devices grew 7.9%, whilst pharmaceutical diagnostics jumped 15.6%. Adjusted earnings per share came in at $1.13, beating analysts' estimate of $1.04. The company's shares rose 12% in premarket trading. However, GE HealthCare noted that geopolitical instability, including Middle East conflicts, negatively affected costs, supply chains and logistics during the quarter.

Organic revenue grew 3.5%, driven by strength in Pharmaceutical Diagnostics and Advanced Imaging Solutions. Patient Care Solutions revenue declined 13.5% year-on-year. Adjusted EBIT margin came in at 14.2%, down 40 basis points from the prior year. Shares jumped 9% premarket following the release. GE HealthCare reaffirmed its full-year guidance, projecting organic revenue growth of 3.0% to 4.0% and adjusted EPS between $4.80 and $5.00.
