Responsibilities
  • Continuously monitor and interpret patients' vital signs, such as heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, using telemetry equipment.
  • Analyze and interpret data from monitoring devices, recognizing any abnormalities or changes in patients' conditions. Report findings to the healthcare team.
  • Maintain effective communication with the healthcare team, including physicians, other nurses, and support staff. Provide updates on patient status and collaborate on care plans.
  • Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and responses in the medical records. Keep detailed records of telemetry data and any changes in the patient's condition.
  • Respond promptly to alarms and emergency situations, initiating appropriate interventions and notifying the healthcare team as needed.
  • Provide education to patients and their families about the use of telemetry equipment, the purpose of monitoring, and what to expect during their stay in the telemetry unit.
  • Administer medications as prescribed, ensuring accurate dosage and monitoring for potential side effects.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive care plans tailored to each patient's needs.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care, safety, and outcomes within the telemetry unit.
  • Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to patient care and telemetry monitoring.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills to assess, prioritize, and manage multiple patients with varying levels of acuity.
  • Adapt to changes in patient conditions, unit priorities, and healthcare protocols.
  • Other Duties: as assigned.
