Requirements
  • Advanced degree in gender studies, social inclusion, social sciences, international development, or related field.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in GESI programming and proposal development for donor programming, USAID experience preferred.
  • Proven experience in integrating GESI into proposals and conducting project-level GESI analyses and action plans, preferably in one or more of the sectors of stabilization, conflict and violence prevention, peacebuilding, governance, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning.
  • Experience designing and leading desk reviews and qualitative research, including developing research tools and methods for organizing analytical findings and data analysis.
  • Strong understanding of gender equity and social inclusion principles and best practices.
  • Demonstrated understanding of client preferences and requirements (specifically USAID and DOS).
  • Excellent detail-oriented writing and analytical skills and experience consolidating feedback and edits from multiple sources.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and facilitation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Identify key GESI issues, challenges, and opportunities that need to be addressed in the proposal.
  • Collect and analyze gender-disaggregated data to inform proposal development.
  • Propose evidence-based interventions and activities that promote gender equity and social inclusion and align with donor requirements and preferences.
  • Integrate GESI considerations into all relevant sections of the proposal, ensuring an integrated approach.
  • Draft specific sections of the proposal related to GESI, ensuring clarity, coherence, and alignment with donor requirements.
  • Develop GESI specific indicators to measure impact.
  • Conduct proposal reviews and provide feedback to ensure GESI integration, including providing individual support to proposal section writers.
  • Revise and finalize proposal sections based on feedback from reviewers and the technical lead.
  • Lead the development and implementation of an evidence-based project-level GESI analysis and action plan tailored to the project’s objectives and context and that defines clear GESI goals, objectives, and outcomes.
  • Perform research, analysis, and synthesis of topics and issues from a GESI and intersectional perspective.
  • Undertake and occasionally supervise fieldwork (focus group discussions, key informant interviews, public meetings, workshops, surveys) to gather information about the current context for project implementation.
  • Support GESI integration in the project workplan, MEL Plan, and any other related deliverables.
  • Provide oversight, guidance, and support to the in-country project-specific local GESI Advisor.
  • Develop and lead staff capacity building trainings related to GESI.
  • Assess progress and results, identify problem areas, and take corrective steps to achieve program and project objectives.
