Responsibilities
  • Assist with recurring and ad hoc reporting for the investment team.
  • Build, update, and maintain reports, dashboards, and data files used to track investment, market, or business activity.
  • Prepare charts, tables, and summaries that communicate insights clearly for different audiences.
  • Review reports for accuracy, consistency, and completeness before distribution.
  • Support improvements to the structure and usability of existing reporting processes.
  • Gather, organize, and summarize data from internal and external sources.
  • Assist in preparing investment research summaries, briefing notes, and materials for portfolio managers, analysts, or broader team discussions.
  • Support ad hoc analysis related to market trends, product themes, competitor activity, or portfolio positioning.
  • Identify key insights, risks, and considerations from research findings.
  • Develop and enhance Excel-based tools, templates, and macros to improve team efficiency.
  • Support practical workflow improvements that reduce duplication, improve accuracy, and save time.
  • Work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Reston steps into the role following the departure of former head of U.S. banking digital and technology Brianna Elsass, who recently concluded a decade-long tenure at BMO to join Wisconsin-based Associated Bank. Bringing deep industry experience, Reston previously led mobile app overhauls, deployed the Fargo AI virtual assistant, and launched digital lending products during his four years at Wells Fargo. BMO Financial Group reported third-quarter 2026 net income of $1,750 million, down 25% from $2,330 million year-over-year. Earnings per share fell to $2.38 from $3.14. The decrease was driven by a goodwill reduction charge related to the sale of BMO's Transportation and Vendor Finance businesses. Adjusted net income rose 19% to $2,859 million, with adjusted EPS increasing 22% to $3.96. Adjusted return on equity reached 14.0%, compared with 12.0% in the prior year. The 2026 contest marks the 11th year of the popular public voting competition and the first year of a new partnership with BMO, which joins as the contest's presenting partner. Since its launch in 2016, the Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin contest has showcased the ingenuity, craftsmanship, and economic impact of Wisconsin manufacturers, while engaging thousands of voters from across the state. The annual competition highlights the wide range of products made in Wisconsin, from iconic consumer goods and agricultural innovation to advanced technologies and industrial equipment. "For more than a decade, this contest has helped spotlight the innovation and talent that make Wisconsin a manufacturing powerhouse," WMC President/CEO Kurt R. Bauer said.
