Laserfiche has announced AI Agents, virtual assistants that perform complex, multi-step tasks using natural language prompts within the company's content management platform. The agents leverage generative AI reasoning models to execute actions based on document data whilst operating within governance and compliance frameworks. Accessible through Smart Chat, the agents inherit user-specific permissions and security restrictions. Applications span legal contract review, HR record management, accounts payable processing and public records requests. Users can direct agents to identify conditions in documents and take automated actions across departments. Initially available to attendees of Laserfiche's Empower conference, AI Agents will launch for all Laserfiche Cloud users on 7 May 2026. Future updates will enable agents to run repeated processes, embed in business workflows and monitor systems autonomously.
