Internship Term: Summer 2023
Rivian internships are experiences optimized for student candidates. To be eligible, you must be an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited program during the internship term with an expected graduation date between Fall 2023 through Fall 2025.

Role Summary
The role utilized in application of robust controls theory for vehicle systems from a clean sheet, including software architecture, implementation, integration, and testing. Responsible for developing controls algorithms to enhance chassis performance, torque application, powertrain/battery thermal management, and body systems, including lighting, closure, and driver states.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Systems Engineers to define vehicle, sub-system, and component requirements.
- Collaborate with low voltage electrical teams to define and integrate components, check functionality on the bench and the vehicle.
- Define and implement software unit tests, HIL, and vehicle tests.
- Support validation teams in developing component and system-level test plans to meet feature requirements.
Qualifications
- Must be currently pursuing a bachelors or masters degree at an accredited university
- Actively pursuing a degree or one closely related in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or any similar technical area.
- Working knowledge of C/C++, Python, and an understanding of embedded systems is preferred.
- Ability to develop and understand software from application level to base software.
- Comfortable analyzing data to improve the design and performance of a system.
- Comfortable with Electrical Engineering fundamentals or thermodynamic principles or Vehicle Dynamics principles preferred.
- Hand-on experience debugging complex subsystems involving network microprocessors and software-controlled electrical or electromechanical devices.
- Any work with fluid mechanics, heat exchanger design, refrigeration systems/heat pump systems preferred but not required.
Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Internships: The range of pay for internships is 25.00-51.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on location, and other factors permitted by law.
Rivian provides robust wellness benefits, and a medical insurance package for interns, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
