  • Demonstrated strong electrical and instrumentation background, with an understanding of associated peripheral equipment.
  • Ability to organize and direct maintenance work efficiently.
  • Excellent participative leadership capabilities, forward thinking, and ability to motivate others toward common goals.
  • Good computer skills, experience with maintenance management software, and ability to learn new processes and systems quickly.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate and plan the daily activities of a large group.
  • Strong knowledge of Programmable Logic Controller and Distributed Control System programming.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully leading a work team in a union environment.
Responsibilities
  • Manage mill electrical and instrumentation processes to ensure equipment reliability and uptime sufficient to support targeted production rates, working closely with the Maintenance Manager on work execution.
  • Manage safety programs for electrical and instrumentation personnel, including safety committee participation, follow-up, and support for safety-related work orders.
  • Manage electrical and instrumentation maintenance staffing needs, including time records, scheduling, vacations, individual work performance, and training processes.
  • Understand and manage the provisions of the union labor agreement.
  • Manage and continuously improve electrical and instrumentation maintenance labor and material costs.
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager and engineering with capital expenditures and major expense projects and their implementation.
  • Develop and implement an electrical and instrumentation work-planning and scheduling process alongside the mechanical planning and scheduling process.
  • Apply relevant maintenance best practices and review electrical standards to develop plans for maintaining compliance.
  • Work with purchasing and the storeroom to evaluate spare-parts inventory, manage quantity and risk, and oversee internal repair items for cost-effective repair and timely return to stock.
  • Manage ongoing training for journeymen and apprentices to maintain an adequate mill knowledge base.
  • Perform special or occasional duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Paper mill experience.
  • A college degree in Mechanical Engineering or another discipline.
