Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field.
  • Two to five years of health and safety experience in a manufacturing, food processing, distribution, or industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations and occupational health and safety best practices.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations, hazard assessments, workplace inspections, and corrective action follow-up.
  • The ability to build positive working relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
Responsibilities
  • Promote a positive safety culture by engaging employees and leaders in health, safety, and environmental initiatives.
  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, and observations throughout the facility to identify hazards and ensure safe work practices are followed.
  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Environment, Health & Safety programs, procedures, and training.
  • Lead or support incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans.
  • Track corrective actions and follow up to ensure timely completion and effectiveness.
  • Maintain hazard assessments, safe work procedures, and other Environment, Health & Safety documentation.
  • Coordinate Joint Health and Safety Committee activities, meetings, inspections, and reporting requirements.
  • Monitor workplace injury claims and support return-to-work and modified work programs.
  • Deliver new-hire safety orientation and assist with ongoing employee training and awareness programs.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to employees and supervisors on health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Analyze Environment, Health & Safety performance metrics and prepare reports for facility and corporate leadership.
  • Support internal audits, regulatory inspections, and compliance initiatives.
  • Partner with operations and maintenance teams to drive continuous improvement and reduce workplace risks.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • An Occupational Health & Safety Certificate or related professional designation is an asset.
  • Experience supporting COR certification or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of return-to-work and disability management programs.
  • Experience working in unionized environments.
