Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in an information technology-related field is required.
  • Grade 09 requires 8 or more years of progressively relevant information technology experience, or 12 years of such experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Grade 10 requires 11 or more years of progressively relevant information technology experience, or 15 years of such experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Candidates must currently possess or commit to obtaining any requisite certifications required for assuming an administrative role in accordance with Department of Defense 8140 within six months of the hiring date.
  • Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and access to the Arnold Engineering Development Complex local area network.
  • Current United States citizenship is required.
  • Candidates must wear personal protective equipment in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor information technology system administrator staff while managing expectations and goals.
  • Interface with test customers, including Air Force personnel, civilians, and consultants, and with other company personnel to ensure objectives are met.
  • Attend morning standup meetings scheduled by the test team.
  • Deploy, configure, and manage Windows workstation and server environments, including Active Directory, Domain Name System, and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol.
  • Manage the end-to-end server-environment lifecycle, including design, deployment, maintenance, and storage configuration.
  • Automate system configurations, patching, and administrative tasks using PowerShell.
  • Enforce cybersecurity controls, harden systems to Department of Defense standards, manage Group Policy Objects, and audit security baselines in partnership with the Information System Security Manager.
  • Monitor system performance, execute patch management with tools such as System Center Configuration Manager and Windows Server Update Services, and perform vulnerability remediation.
  • Develop, maintain, and deploy standardized operating system images for enterprise-wide provisioning using Windows Deployment Services, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, and System Center Configuration Manager.
  • Provide advanced Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support and complex troubleshooting for end users across diverse hardware and software platforms.
  • Implement and test backup strategies and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and system resilience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and document scalable system improvements and virtualization projects.
  • Develop testing schedules, manage project timelines, and stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Extensive experience with Windows imaging and deployment using Windows Deployment Services, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, and System Center Configuration Manager, including creating and maintaining custom images.
  • Deep expertise configuring and troubleshooting Linux, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Windows Server operating systems, and enterprise storage solutions such as NetApp ONTAP and Red Hat Identity Management.
  • Proficiency managing Domain Name System, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, and network services in dynamic enterprise environments.
  • Skill in scripting languages, primarily PowerShell, Bash, and Python, for automation and orchestration.
  • Strong understanding of virtualization using VMware vSphere and Citrix XenDesktop/XenApp.
  • Knowledge of network protocols including Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol, User Datagram Protocol, and Secure Shell, and of network security best practices.
  • Microsoft certification for Windows Server and Windows Domain management, such as MCSA or MCSE.
  • VMware certification, such as VCP-DCV or VCAP.
