Requirements
  • Experience administering and engineering WebSphere Application Server 7.0 or 8.5.
  • Experience administering and engineering JBoss EAP 6.x.
  • Experience administering and engineering Apache HTTP Server 2.x.
  • Knowledge of Apache Tomcat.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Internet Information Services 7.0 or 8.5.
  • Shell scripting or programming experience.
  • Experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Proven debugging skills.
  • Experience generating process flows and diagrams.
  • Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Visio.
  • Internet and intranet skills, in addition to other job-related systems.
  • Understanding of network communication between multiple networks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot network communication issues between servers.
  • A Bachelor or technical degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or another related discipline is required.
  • A minimum of 5–7 years of experience in a Middleware Engineer role.
  • Willingness to work the normal shift from 1 p.m. Mountain Standard Time to 10 p.m. Mountain Standard Time.
  • Ability to support a 24/7 environment, including night and weekend off-shift hours and an on-call rotation.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain operational readiness of the middleware infrastructure in a 24/7 environment.
  • Provide level 3 and level 4 support for the middleware environment, occasionally outside business hours.
  • Contribute to project team efforts to ensure operational support requirements are implemented.
  • Assist in designing middleware instances and ensuring related projects meet operational requirements.
  • Maintain a proactive view of middleware platform performance.
  • Conduct performance analysis and tune applications to increase performance.
  • Respond to application outages.
  • Maintain version, patch, and security levels in accordance with the company’s strategic direction.
  • Communicate technical and non-technical information to technical support groups, customer support centers, and end users as required.
  • Document procedures, policies, and how-to documents to increase efficiency and meet business needs.
  • Execute change management processes in accordance with company standards.
  • Schedule 24/7 work rotations for a team.

  • ITIL Foundation or certification is a plus.
