Requirements
  • At least five years of construction and/or project engineering, subcontractor quality assurance/quality control, or special inspection experience in structural, mechanical/process, electrical, plumbing, or civil/architectural design; no license is required.
  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office 365, including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams, Procore, and other quality assurance/quality control software.
  • Highly developed visual observation and interpretation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and maintain a cooperative attitude in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong time-management skills and the ability to multitask, prioritize work, and manage frequent interruptions.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to develop interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to work closely with trade and craft personnel in fieldwork situations.
  • Ability to perform the listed physical and mental job functions, including accessing all areas of a construction site.
  • Ability to maintain constant mental alertness, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, make decisions, follow through on assignments, and follow up on tasks assigned to others.

Responsibilities
  • Implement and manage project-specific quality assurance/quality control programs.
  • Review and approve trade contractor quality assurance/quality control programs and methods of procedure for alignment with general contractor and client requirements.
  • Facilitate work groups involving trade partners, construction managers, and superintendents to coordinate quality assurance/quality control activities.
  • Manage, schedule, coordinate, and witness quality assurance/quality control activities on site.
  • Review design documents to identify constructability errors or omissions.
  • Monitor construction activities and completed work to verify and document adherence to design documents, project specifications, industry standards, building codes, and client expectations.
  • Investigate, understand, and communicate technical product properties and interactions.
  • Independently solve problems involving building-material interactions and details.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor for developing staff and convey technical information throughout the company.
  • Manage trade-partner accountability for adherence to project specifications, building codes, industry standards, and special inspection requirements.
  • Perform the physical activities required on the construction site, including walking, standing, climbing ladders and stairs, using manlifts or MEWPs, and accessing all site areas.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience developing systems and procedures to implement effective quality practices across different skill sets and project types.
  • A current or previous journeyman electrician, pipefitter, welder, HVAC, or other trade specialty license.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30.
  • Special inspection certifications such as AWS Certified Welding Inspector, ICC Special Inspector, or Visual Testing Level 1 or 2.
