The system’s assets, including short-term holdings, total about $92.8 billion as of June 30, 2023, making it one of the largest public pension funds in the United States. Unlike many private plans, STRS Ohio operates under public governance and focuses on teachers, giving it scale and a long‑term investment approach. Its goal is to securely provide retirement and related benefits to educators while maintaining the fund’s financial health for future needs.
