Requirements
  • A valid Oklahoma Class D driver's license is required, with the ability to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License within six months.
  • Graduation from high school or a General Educational Development equivalent is required.
  • Some knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods, and procedures used in maintenance, construction, and repair activities is required.
  • The ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods, work safely, communicate effectively verbally and in writing, maintain effective working relationships, and understand and carry out written and oral instructions is required.
  • Skill in operating some of the listed tools and equipment is required.
  • The employee must be able to lift or move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Responsibilities
  • Operate gasoline-powered hand tools and a variety of hand tools, including concrete rakes, hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers, and shovels.
  • Assist with the layout and construction of concrete formwork, concrete finishing, piping systems, grading, excavations, and paving.
  • Determine the locations of gas, telephone, power, television, water, and sewer lines before excavation.
  • Clean and check tools and equipment after use, maintain inspection and maintenance records, and refer defects or needed repairs to the construction manager.
  • Perform labor for new construction and maintenance projects, including pavement and concrete cutting, ditch digging, and laying and backfilling pipes.
  • Operate trucks and construction or power equipment, including utility trucks, tamper, dump truck, plate compactor, jetter/inductor truck, compressors, generators, trenchers, jackhammers, saws, and other small equipment.
  • Assist with the operation and maintenance of a haul truck and lowboy trailer.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and clean the equipment.
  • Set bases and forms for concrete pouring and signal workers during concrete placement.
  • Operate a concrete saw to cut expansion and contraction joints and fill the cuts with tar.
  • Finish freshly poured concrete streets, walkways, and curbs to the specified grade and contour using floats, trowels, and screeds.
  • Perform duties in accordance with applicable safety and security standards.
  • Coordinate traffic control at work sites.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
