Requirements
  • The candidate must have at least five to ten years of experience
  • The candidate must be familiar with network and information system security principles and best practices
  • The candidate must have in-depth knowledge of the Risk Management Framework, the National Institute of Standards and Technology publications, and the DHS 4300A Policy Directive
  • The candidate must have experience implementing the National Institute of Standards and Technology Special Publication 800-53 Security Controls in an Assessment and Authorization process
  • The candidate must have experience reviewing Nessus scans, and managing vulnerability mitigation and information security processes in an enterprise environment
  • The candidate must have a basic understanding of enterprise networking concepts
  • The candidate must be able to work well within a team environment and build rapport with government and customer organizations
  • The candidate must have demonstrated experience supporting government agencies, customers, or contracts within federal environments, including the Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, Federal Civil agencies, and military organizations
Responsibilities
  • The Information System Security Officer acts as the designated person assigned to one or more existing Federal Information Security Management Act Systems of Record as well as new information technology systems that are slated as new work products to develop an Authority to Operate and follow-on Continuous Monitoring system
  • As a designated ISSO, the ISSO will sign a Department of Homeland Security sponsored letter that lays out the roles and responsibilities of the ISSO function to maintain daily compliance requirements
  • The ISSO will report to the government Program Manager and to the government Technical Point of Contact or Task Manager
  • The contractor shall keep the designated government Information System Security Manager and the Contracting Officer's Representative informed
  • The ISSO role is of utmost importance throughout its lifecycle to meet FISMA guidelines while supporting DHS/CISA directives around limiting vulnerabilities
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience supporting the same or similar contract, with an in-depth understanding of the customer environment, requirements, and operational landscape, is highly desirable
  • Certifications such as Network Plus, Security Plus, CISSP, and security auditing are recommended
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical field or equivalent experience is preferred
