What believers are saying

  • CityFibre full-fiber rollout in Stockton and Middlesbrough drives infrastructure upgrade demand.
  • UK NIS2 Regulations 2027 create compliance consulting opportunities for cybersecurity-focused MSPs.
  • Regional SME clients seek stable, local IT partners amid national consolidation trends.

What critics are saying

  • US Odyssey Systems Consulting Group brand confusion diverts search visibility and leads.
  • National competitors undercut pricing on telephony and SIP trunking via scale advantages.
  • Microsoft 365 Copilot and Azure native tools commoditize tailored cloud management services.
  • NIS2 compliance mandate requires ISO 27001 certification; non-compliance triggers client churn.
  • Accenture and BT regional hubs poach technical staff amid 20% North East IT vacancies.
  • CityFibre full-fiber bypasses legacy wired network; clients migrate to 10Gbps rivals.
  • OpenAI enterprise GPT agents automate contact centers; eliminates hosted voice solution demand.
  • PE-backed MSP acquisition likely within 18–36 months if regional growth stagnates.

What makes Odyssey Systems unique

  • Debt-free, owner-managed firm with 35+ years operational stability in North East.
  • All technical work performed in-house by employees; no subcontractors used.
  • Dedicated business-only core network with 24/7 support from Stockton-on-Tees base.

The Generative Reality: why we're investing in Odyssey.

The Generative Reality: why Wyldvc is investing in Odyssey. Since the dawn of digital entertainment, Wyldvc has lived in a world of "baked" pixels. Whether it is a Hollywood blockbuster, a AAA video game, or a social feed, the digital experiences Wyldvc consume are static artifacts. They are pre-rendered, pre-determined, and fundamentally passive. You can navigate a game world, but you cannot change its physics. You can watch a video, but the story ends where the file stops. Wyldvc has spent decades building increasingly high-fidelity cages - beautiful, but rigid. Today, Wyldvc is thrilled to announce its investment in Odyssey. Odyssey is not just building another AI video generator. They are a visionary AI lab building the engine for Generative Reality: a world where digital environments are not fetched from a server, but imagined in real-time, frame-by-frame. Beyond Video: The Shift to Causal World Models The current AI video landscape is largely dominated by bidirectional models - systems that look at a beginning and an end to "fill in" the middle. While the results are visually stunning, they are inherently "closed." They are clips, not worlds. They cannot scale to infinity because they require a predetermined "ending" before the first frame is even rendered. Odyssey has taken a fundamentally different architectural path. By utilizing causal architecture, Odyssey generates each frame based solely on the historical state of the world.

Odyssey lands NVIDIA and Samsung backing to build AI world simulator

Odyssey, an AI research company developing frontier world models, has secured investment from NVentures, NVIDIA's venture capital arm, and Samsung Next. The funding will support development of a general-purpose world simulator capable of generating infinitely long, interactive simulations from any starting point. Founded two years ago, Odyssey recently released Odyssey-2 Pro, a world model that can be integrated into applications across robotics, gaming, education and defence. The investment adds to backing from GV, EQT, Air Street Capital and notable angel investors including Jeff Dean and Elad Gil. The company will use the capital to improve simulation length, quality and interactivity, whilst scaling infrastructure for training next-generation world models. Odyssey's research team includes talent from DeepMind, OpenAI, Tesla, Waymo and Meta.
