- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.
- One year of registered nurse experience in an emergency department.
- Must hold Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider certification from the American Heart Association.
- Must hold the applicable registered nurse license for the state of work location, including Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Wisconsin requirements as specified.
- Must hold Advanced Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or one of the listed emergency, neonatal, pediatric, or trauma nursing certifications, depending on the applicable state requirements.
- Must maintain the physical abilities required for frequent standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, sitting, reaching, keyboard use, vision, hearing, and communication, as well as occasional patient movement and related physical activities.
- Collect comprehensive data pertinent to the health care consumer’s health or situation.
- Triage each health care consumer using age-, developmentally appropriate, and culturally sensitive practices to prioritize and optimize health care consumer flow and expedite those requiring immediate care.
- Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues.
- Identify expected outcomes for an individualized plan for the health care consumer or situation.
- Implement, coordinate, and educate to promote health and a safe practice environment.
- Evaluate progress toward attaining outcomes.
- Communicate effectively in a variety of formats in all areas of practice.
- Demonstrate leadership in the professional practice setting and the profession.
- Attain knowledge and competence reflecting current nursing practice.
- Apply evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge to Emergency Nursing practice, ensuring care meets patient age-specific and clinical needs described in the department’s Scope of Service.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
