Requirements
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable car.
  • Comfort driving passengers in a van and occasionally driving community members in a personal vehicle.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to perform medium physical work and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work in outdoor conditions and occasionally in wet or humid environments.
  • Union membership or agency fee payer status is required for bargaining unit positions.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct one-on-one grassroots outreach in the field.
  • Identify and develop local leaders through in-depth one-on-ones and provide ongoing leadership development training and opportunities with the Lead Organizer.
  • Organize and maintain local committees and hold regular meetings.
  • Ensure active member involvement in state and national campaigns through mobilization and other means.
  • Facilitate organizational meetings, events, and training participation.
  • Represent We Are CASA, and facilitate leaders in representing the organization, before the media, legislative bodies, legislators, community meetings, coalitions, and funders.
  • Interpret for community members when necessary to facilitate campaign involvement.
  • Participate in internal staff meetings.
  • Complete administrative work, reporting, and reconciliation.
  • Participate in We Are CASA actions, mobilizations, and events as needed and required.
  • Build power through voter registration and education campaigns, ally development, and participation in coalitions or networks as assigned.
  • Enter data into databases and write timely, regular reports.
  • Track time and communications to ensure appropriate assignment to Section 501(c)(3) or Section 501(c)(4), direct and grassroots lobbying, and electioneering.
  • Support the development and expansion of the organization.
  • Meet deadlines established by the supervisor and in department and individual work plans.
  • Provide customer service, interactions, and responses to members, partner organizations, vendors, visitors, callers, and other individuals or organizations encountered in the role.
  • Understand and promote We Are CASA membership and services.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
