Responsibilities
  • Perform legal research and draft memorandums on technical tax and transactional issues.
  • Provide feedback on developments in federal tax credit law, including new bills, Internal Revenue Service notices, and Treasury guidance, and help apply them to current and prospective investments.
  • Support due diligence for tax equity investments and syndication by reviewing data rooms, project contracts, debt and equity agreements, insurance, and diligence reports to confirm tax credit eligibility and the propriety of related economics.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and coordinate execution of investment and project documents, including limited liability company and other operative agreements, nondisclosure agreements, engagement letters, and tax insurance policies.
  • Monitor ongoing legal, insurance, lender, tax, and business-related compliance for tax credit investments on behalf of Nelnet and its co-investors.
  • Support entity formation, legal reorganizations, and related structures in coordination with business team leaders and the internal accounting team.
  • Communicate with colleagues at all levels, co-investors, and outside advisors.
Desired Qualifications
  • Tax credit investment, renewable energy project finance, or real estate/fund transaction experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with partnership structures and taxation is a plus.
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or Environmental Sciences is preferred.
  • Genuine interest in renewable energy and tax-advantaged investing is desirable.

Omaha's Grapple raises $1M to make data analytics accessible for nontechnical users

Omaha-based Grapple has raised $1 million in a pre-seed round led by Invest Nebraska and Nelnet, with participation from MOVE Venture Capital and Nebraska Angels. The startup develops an AI-powered platform that makes data analytics accessible to nontechnical users without requiring data engineering expertise. Founded in 2025 by Jack Sellwood, Grapple's software pulls information from various sources including databases, spreadsheets and apps like Salesforce and Quickbooks. The platform enables sales, marketing and finance teams to compile reports independently, saving businesses time and money. Grapple was recently accepted into California's LAUNCH Accelerator and has secured early customers including Nebraska startups Guardify and Workshop. The company will use the funding to expand its team, marketing efforts and go-to-market strategy whilst remaining based in Omaha.
