Requirements
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing leaves of absence, including the Family and Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, and state disability laws.
  • Strong understanding of human resources information systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the entire leave process, from initial request to return to work, for all types of employee leaves.
  • Review leave requests, determine eligibility, and communicate decisions to employees.
  • Interpret and apply federal, state, and local regulations and company policies regarding leaves of absence, including the Family and Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, state disability laws, and paid time off policies.
  • Support the Workers' Compensation and Safety Manager in responding to inquiries on workers' compensation cases and unemployment inquiries.
  • Track and record workers' compensation cases and support completion of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration log.
  • Serve as the point of contact for employees seeking information or assistance related to leave options, eligibility requirements, and application procedures.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees throughout the leave process.
  • Collaborate with HR professionals, supervisors, and managers to coordinate leave accommodations, facilitate return-to-work processes, and address issues related to employee absences.
  • Communicate with vendors that manage specific leave programs, including short-term and long-term disability insurance.
  • Monitor employees' leave usage, balances, and entitlements using human resources information systems or equivalent tools.
  • Generate reports and analyze data to identify trends, evaluate program effectiveness, and ensure compliance.
  • Work with HR and management to assess and implement reasonable accommodations for employees with disabilities or medical conditions, ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and other relevant laws.
  • Respond promptly to leave inquiries and provide personalized assistance to address employee needs.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience in leave administration, human resources, or a related field.
  • Certification in leave management, such as Certified Leave Management Specialist.
