Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred; Mechanical, Civil, and Energy Engineering backgrounds have also been successful in this role), or equivalent education and experience
  • 1–3 years of experience designing solar and battery systems, or similar design experience using AutoCAD
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and PVSyst (or similar energy modeling software)
  • Fundamental knowledge of electrical systems and circuitry; understanding of how photovoltaic solar and battery energy storage systems are designed and constructed
  • Ability to clearly communicate design concepts, project risks, and technical ideas to both technical and non-technical colleagues — in conversation and on paper
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and organization
Responsibilities
  • System Design & Layout — Create solar PV and BESS designs using AutoCAD, Helioscope, and other design software; assess equipment placement, optimal row spacing, orientation, and site accessibility based on desktop analysis, industry standards, and past experience
  • Energy Modeling — Run energy modeling simulations, including 3D renderings of PV systems and surrounding objects, to model shading and validate system performance assumptions
  • Equipment Selection — Select major equipment for each site and evaluate new equipment entering the market to inform design decisions and maintain competitive positioning
  • Value Engineering — Identify value engineering opportunities within designs and collaborate with Origination and Estimating to quantify and capture savings
  • Proposal Support — Partner with the Origination team to integrate design details, project risks, and construction approaches into customer-facing proposals
  • Design Handoff & Documentation — Create design packages for handover to the Project Engineering team as projects reach exclusivity; ensure documentation is complete and constructable
  • M&A Technical Review — Support the Mergers & Acquisitions team by reviewing site due diligence, preliminary designs, and permit-level plans from other developers
  • Cross-Functional Coordination — Work closely with Origination, Development, Estimating, Commercial Analysis, Project Engineering, Project Managers, M&A, and QA/QC to ensure proposal design packages are efficiently laid out and constructable

View

Madison Energy Investments develops, builds, owns, and operates distributed generation assets for commercial, industrial, and small utility-scale customers, usually solar and other green resources. It handles the full process—from origination and funding to construction, asset management, and ongoing operations—using in-house financial modeling, risk analysis, and expert negotiations to speed project closings. The company differentiates itself with an end-to-end ownership model, strong risk management, and close collaboration with local partners to maximize incentives and streamline funding through a tailored mix of tax equity and subsidies. Its goal is to accelerate the energy transition by delivering reliable, lower-cost power and providing stable, predictable returns for its investor partners.

What believers are saying

  • The August 2025 $800 million facility funds expansion toward 1 GW operating capacity.
  • November 2025 EQT Real Estate and Maryland rooftop completions prove landlord and community demand.
  • April 2024 Sun Tribe team acquisition deepened K-12 pipelines and Charlottesville market presence.

What critics are saying

  • Debt-fueled growth depends on continuous tax equity and refinancing before 2028 maturities.
  • NextEra integration across 25 states creates execution risk on permitting, interconnection, and staffing.
  • Distributed generation economics face curtailment, utility pushback, and customer churn if savings underperform.

What makes Madison Energy Infrastructure unique

  • EQT-backed Madison combines development, EPC, ownership, and operations across 25 states.
  • The October 2025 NextEra platform acquisition added 900-plus MW operating solar and storage assets.
  • Madison's school, municipal, and C&I focus gives it repeatable behind-the-meter origination advantages.
