  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study
  • 5 years of relevant experience in the field of radioactive and hazardous waste management
  • Experience in implementation and development of Atomic Energy Act of 1954 (AEA) requirements and documents
  • Experience in implementation and development of Resource Conservation and Recovery Act of 1976 (RCRA) requirements and documents
  • Experience in implementation and development of Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980 (CERCLA) requirements and documents
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to interact with diverse parties with multiple, potentially conflicting interests
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to work with individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds in person and by telephone
  • Must be able to use a computer to communicate via email; proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and related tools and technology
  • Security clearance eligibility up to Top Secret or DOE "Q" clearance may be required
Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day support for tank closure activities
  • Develop written products and verbal communications regarding environmental regulatory activities performed in support of DOE
  • Perform tank closure reviews/evaluations as necessary to support DOE
  • Analyze and review regulatory compliance documentation for tank closure and supporting documentation in accordance with environmental laws and regulatory requirements applicable to Hanford
  • Provide analysis and review of regulatory compliance and supporting documentation for tank closure (e.g., performance assessments, risk assessments, closure plans, RCRA Facility Investigation/Corrective Measures Studies)
  • Provide support in development of regulatory, permitting, compliance, tank closure, and Hanford policy and strategy as well as regulatory analysis, guidance, recommendation, and responses
  • Prepare weekly status reports
  • Prepare monthly reports including deliverable progress and timecards
  • May travel occasionally for meetings, site visits, or training requirements
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in Hazardous Waste Management Act of 1976 (HWMA) requirements preferred
  • Experience in Toxic Substances Control Act of 1976 (TSCA) requirements preferred
  • Experience in Clean Air Act of 1955 (CAA) requirements preferred
  • Experience in RCRA permitting preferred
  • Experience in RCRA/CERCLA integration preferred
  • Knowledge of the Hanford site preferred
  • Experience at a Department of Energy Office of Environmental Management site preferred
  • Experience in working with and negotiating with regulatory agencies
  • Consecutive employment in a position with comparable responsibilities within the past five years (as a criterion of the position)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite enhancements such as Publisher and Adobe Acrobat considered advantageous
  • May be required to complete a Financial Disclosure Statement
  • Requires ability to comply with background investigations up to Top Secret/DOE Q clearance
