Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, CICS, and VSAM covering both batch and online transaction processing.
- Prior experience executing mainframe-to-distributed modernization projects.
- Working knowledge of Java and Python.
- Relational database experience, with Oracle preferred and DB2 familiarity helpful.
- Familiarity with Control-M, IBM MQ/MQ Series, and tools referenced as EZTrieve/EXTRACT.
- Proficiency with artificial intelligence coding assistants or agents is required, including tools such as Windsurf, GitHub Copilot, and CodeWhisperer.
Responsibilities
- Analyze the existing mainframe codebase, workflows, and dependencies.
- Support component-by-component migration to Java and Python and migration of VSAM data to relational databases, as applicable.
- Contribute to both BAU and modernization scrums. BAU work includes fund and client onboarding and process changes.
- Support proof-of-concept efforts involving file access, concurrency, and relational database patterns.
- Provide United States time zone coverage, including late-day Eastern Time overlap and occasional issue triage.
Desired Qualifications
- Oracle experience is preferred.
- DB2 familiarity is helpful.
