Requirements
- A bachelor's degree is required.
- At least 3 years of fundraising experience is required.
- Practical knowledge of major gift operations and donor participation growth is required.
- Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge, other Blackbaud programs, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint is required.
- The ability to clearly articulate the mission of Dolly Children's is required.
- Strong interpersonal, networking, and organizational skills are required.
- Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
- The ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively is required.
- Demonstrated integrity, diplomacy, tact, courtesy, and a positive attitude are required.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage a comprehensive, strategic, integrated effort to build the base of individual donors and increase their level of support.
- Cultivate donors to become or maintain status as major gift donors and manage a major gifts donor portfolio.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of Children’s Hospital and its funding priorities by articulating a compelling case for support to constituents.
- Develop and maintain a written master plan and calendar for the responsible phases of major gifts fundraising campaigns, including goals and tactics for growing and administering the major gifts giving program.
- Prepare written communications, including letters, brochures, and other materials for major gift programs and Children’s Hospital publications supporting development goals.
- Identify and qualify campaign, major gift, and planned gift prospects by cultivating new and major donors.
- Prepare and submit a thorough and timely quarterly report on progress toward program goals and objectives, adjusting performance as indicated.
- Attend Development Advisory Board activities.
- Research and implement major gifts practices focused on increasing funds.
- Assist with meetings, volunteer activities, and Children’s Hospital events.
- Support other projects and team members and accept assignments needed to meet department goals.
- Work with diverse groups of individuals.
- Lead project results and provide direction to others despite not being the official leader.
- Represent Children’s Hospital to the community through appropriate groups, community leaders, and other connection opportunities.
- Use public speaking abilities to motivate and influence individuals and organizations to support the mission of Children’s Hospital.
- Work closely with the Manager of Donor Records to monitor and track major gift programs accurately and timely.
- Track prospect information, including call reports, gift acknowledgements, and other data needed to maintain donor and prospect records.
- Document and maintain donor records in the Raiser’s Edge system.
- Evaluate long-term and short-term major giving programs and make recommendations.
- Use Raiser’s Edge for reporting donor visits and fundraising efforts and initiate data mining to support goals.
- Identify and solicit new prospects, concepts, and markets while maintaining existing relationships.
- Raise a portion of the department’s annual fundraising goal and report progress quarterly.
Desired Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of fundraising experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- A successful track record in the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of unrestricted leadership gifts is preferred.
- Volunteer management experience is a plus.
Dolly Parton Children's Hospital is the pediatric hospital within East Tennessee Children's Hospital.
