Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree, 8 or more years of related experience, and 8 or more years as a subject-matter expert in the respective area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 4 years of experience leading individual contributors and leaders of leaders, unless substituted by the specified leadership-experience, MedImpact-experience, external-training, and internal-mentorship combination.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, and databases.
  • Working knowledge of the health benefits arena and government prescription programs, preferably in pharmacy benefits management.
  • Knowledge of healthcare products and contracts.
  • Consultative selling and negotiation skills.
  • Experience creating and delivering presentations.
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, presentation, persuasion, and consulting skills.

Responsibilities
  • Provide proactive and strategic support to a state client and manage products produced by clinical and operational teams.
  • Ensure compliance with agreement terms and conditions and oversee program requirements, standards, policies, and performance.
  • Coordinate and oversee regulatory activities, corrective action plans, monitoring, and audit support.
  • Manage an account team and develop state-specific business plans focused on program goals, performance expectations, membership growth, and objectives.
  • Ensure deliverables are on time, within budget, and meet expected quality levels for internal and external customers.
  • Direct and manage key teams to monitor the quality of products and services offered to the state.
  • Coordinate training for new staff members and provide ongoing coaching to account-management teams.
  • Use project-management skills to track milestones and deliverables, recognize and communicate risk indicators promptly, and provide regular status updates to internal and external leadership.
  • Optimize sustainable growth and profitability and align required resources with business goals.
  • Develop and maintain business relationships with assigned state contacts, including pharmacy directors, executives, and key decision-makers.
  • Research and analyze trends and competitive practices to contextualize the state strategy within program requirements, industry demands, and marketplace demands.
  • Monitor the service continuum, resolve escalated issues, and ensure ongoing issues are resolved promptly.
  • Perform a 360-degree review of account performance from operational service delivery through relationship management, identify gaps, and source corrective actions to meet milestones.
  • Collaborate with leaders in Operations, Information Technology, Health Services, Sales, and Account Management to improve processes and client service.
  • Analyze claims results and identify discrepancies, inaccuracies, anomalies, and unexpected consequences.
  • Report on performance measures, performance guarantees, and client initiatives.
  • Take accountability for promptly resolving adjudication-configuration issues.
  • Complete special projects, including leading workgroups, overseeing projects and development of new system functionality, and mentoring or training staff.
  • Provide regular feedback to management about client-requirement status and business-development opportunities that improve operational efficiency.
  • Proactively identify and recommend solutions for client and operational improvements.
  • Manage assigned staff and direct, coordinate, and evaluate the unit.
  • Interview, hire, train, assign, and direct employees; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints; and resolve problems.
  • Support and enforce company policies and procedures consistently, taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Manage client situations, respond to client needs and service requests, solicit feedback, and meet commitments to clients.
  • Work on-site at the San Diego headquarters or another company location, or remotely with management approval based on business requirements.
  • Remain available for regular interaction and coordination with employees, colleagues, clients, and vendors and facilitate decisions through stakeholder collaboration.
  • Work the hours required to accomplish responsibilities and meet deadlines, including nights, weekends, or holidays when needed.
  • Travel domestically up to 25% of the time.

Nine major PBMs to display TrumpRx prescription drug prices from 2027

Nine pharmacy benefit managers will integrate TrumpRx prescription drug pricing into their benefit tools, effective 1 January 2027. The Pharmaceutical Care Management Association and participating PBMs—including CVS Health, Express Scripts, Humana, and OptumRx—will display cash prices from TrumpRx alongside plan coverage costs. The agreement covers commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid plans. Patients will see TrumpRx prices for all listed drugs, whether through presidential deals or standard pricing. CMS Administrator Dr Mehmet Oz said the commitment will help patients compare prices and find better deals. PCMA CEO David Marin stated the transparency will allow consumers to make better-informed choices about prescription drug costs. Some PBMs will use Real Time Benefit Tools to display pricing comparisons, whilst others may employ different methods.

MedImpact to present on optimizing pharmacy benefits at MACo Summer Conference. The Maryland Association of Counties announced on July 16 that MedImpact will host a session titled "Optimizing Pharmacy Benefits for Counties" during the Solutions Showcase at its 2026 Summer Conference. The event is scheduled to take place at the Roland Powell Convention Center in Ocean City, Maryland, from August 12 to August 15. According to the announcement, MedImpact's session will address strategies for making pharmacy benefits easier to understand and more cost effective for counties. The session description states, "For most employer-sponsored health insurance plans, pharmacy benefits are the most frequently used and challenging. MedImpact seeks to make these benefits easy to understand and cost effective." It also notes that while pharmacy benefit managers are under scrutiny from mandates affecting Maryland pharmacies and retailers, there may be opportunities within the State of Maryland's current employee benefits contract that could benefit county governments. MedImpact launches GLP-1 Benefit 360 to tackle obesity medication costs with capped pricing

MedImpact, the largest independent pharmacy benefits company in the US, has launched two solutions to manage rising GLP-1 medication costs whilst improving patient access: GLP-1 Benefit 360 and GLP-1 Direct Fund. GLP-1 Benefit 360 offers capped pricing for plans and members, integrated lifestyle support through the MedEmpower Fuel mobile app, and access to registered dietitians. The solution addresses the issue that over half of patients discontinue GLP-1 therapy within three months by providing personalised coaching at no additional cost. The GLP-1 Direct Fund allows healthcare payers to contribute set amounts toward direct-to-consumer pricing, offering members lower out-of-pocket costs whilst protecting plans from unpredictable cost increases. Both solutions bypass traditional high-cost pharmacy models to provide predictable pricing and clinical support.
