Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in RPG development (RPG III, RPG IV, ILE RPG, SQLRPGLE, RPGFREE)
  • Strong experience with IBM iSeries (AS/400) architecture and DB2 database administration
  • Experience in full stack .NET software, web, or application development and experience building robust distributed systems that scale well
  • Experience with modernization efforts, such as integrating or replacing RPG applications with APIs, web services, or cloud-based solutions (Azure preferred)
  • Comfortable designing and optimizing stored procedures, triggers, and SQL queries
  • Familiarity with CL programming, job scheduling, and batch processing on iSeries
  • Experience with unit testing, debugging, and performance tuning in RPG applications
  • Solid understanding of the full SDLC and experience working in structured development environments
  • Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize complex RPG applications
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with business and technical stakeholders
  • Bachelors Degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent work experience
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain RPG (RPG III, RPG IV, ILE RPG, SQLRPGLE, and RPGFREE) applications on the IBM iSeries platform
  • Develop and optimize DB2 database queries, stored procedures, and triggers
  • Manage the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), from requirements gathering to deployment and support
  • Work closely with business analysts, product owners, and other technical teams to understand system dependencies and business needs
  • Contribute to efforts aimed at modernizing legacy applications, integrating with cloud-based services, and implementing best practices for maintainability and scalability
  • Provide subject matter expert level of support for RPG applications, resolving issues efficiently and ensuring high system availability
  • Maintain technical documentation and enforce coding standards, security guidelines, and best practices
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Pega, Informatica, or other data integration tools used within enterprise environments
  • Understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation on IBM i
  • Prior experience working in an Azure/Microsoft technology environment
  • Working knowledge of Robot Scheduler for job scheduling and automation on IBM i
  • Experience with DetectIT for menu creation, security enforcement, and user access management on IBM i
  • Familiarity with Turnover Software Lifecycle Management system for version control and deployment management on iSeries
