Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Building Construction, Architecture, Architectural Studies, and/or Civil Engineering is required.
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise and working knowledge of the construction industry and construction project management.
  • Ability to deliver interactive customer service and develop collaborative relationships throughout the organization.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and possess proficient computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule at multiple sites.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff in a diverse, multicultural, collaborative environment.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • A criminal background check will be conducted.
  • Licensure issued by the Construction Industry Licensing Board of the State of Florida is preferred but is not required.
Responsibilities
  • Design, prepare, and deliver Building Construction Technology coursework, including Estimating, Construction Surveying, Drafting, Computer-Aided Design and Drafting, Building Information Modeling, and Management Practices.
  • Plan, organize, and deliver instruction in didactic, laboratory, and classroom settings to promote student success.
  • Support college and departmental missions through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, and service.
  • Collaborate with the department chair, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, design, and develop curriculum aligned with current industry standards.
  • Provide students with frequent and timely assessment and clear feedback regarding academic performance.
  • Document student progress and maintain accurate records of attendance, grading, and student learning outcomes.
  • Protect student confidentiality and privacy in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and college rules.
  • Develop methods to fairly and accurately assess student progress toward stated learning outcomes and objectives.
  • Maintain office hours proportionate to the instructional assignment.
  • Engage with professional organizations and community partnerships within the construction industry.
  • Use online course management systems to deliver and enhance course instruction.
  • Provide courteous, informed, accessible, and professional service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Building Construction, Architecture, Architectural Studies, and/or Civil Engineering.
  • Relevant teaching experience in a community college setting.
  • Licensure issued by the Construction Industry Licensing Board of the State of Florida.
