Requirements
  • Current appropriate state licensure is required.
  • Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification is required.
  • The candidate must meet the practice requirements in all states employed.
  • A minimum of 9 months of nursing experience plus 3 months of specialized experience providing clinical nursing care to dialysis patients in an acute or chronic setting is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership competencies and skills are required, including continuous quality improvement, relationship development, results orientation, team building, motivating employees, performance management, and decision making.
  • Demonstrated management skills are required to provide leadership in the supervision of dialysis personnel and ensure the delivery of quality care to patients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Act as a subject matter expert and resource for staff members on the assigned inpatient center treatment floor.
  • Coordinate and schedule direct patient care staff to provide coverage for acute dialysis treatments in contracted hospitals and facilities and ensure efficient patient scheduling and staff utilization in accordance with the TAP scheduling tool.
  • Maintain and review the daily TAP tool for all hospitals and facilities under direct supervision and submit results to the Program Manager for review.
  • Ensure acute treatments are performed in contracted hospitals and facilities according to established policies and procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of patient treatment information is entered into ACES during treatment and monitor ACES compliance daily.
  • Perform Quality Assessment and Improvement Program audits as directed to ensure quality patient care and compliance with Joint Commission requirements.
  • Participate in Quality Assessment and Improvement meetings as requested by the Program Manager.
  • Assess daily patient care needs, communicate concerns to the attending physician, and implement changes in patient care or treatment as directed in collaboration with prescribing physicians.
  • Perform acute treatments according to current Charge Nurse Guidance recommendations and oversee dialysis-related medical and emergency functions.
  • Communicate with physicians and other healthcare team members to interpret, adjust, triage, and complete patient care plans efficiently and safely.
  • Coordinate with technical staff on preventive maintenance, repair of disabled machines, infection control measures, routine water culturing, water testing, logging results, and transportation of equipment and supplies.
  • Serve as liaison between the administrative staff of each hospital or facility and the Program Manager.
  • Practice cost-containment strategies, including medical supply inventory and personnel management.
  • Review and comply with the Code of Business Conduct, company policies and procedures, and applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Assist with projects assigned by the Program Manager.
  • Provide supervision for Inpatient Services Registered Nurses and Inpatient Services Patient Care Technicians at assigned facilities.
  • Provide direct patient care involving heavy lifting, moving patients, and assisting with ambulation.
  • Travel between assigned facilities and various community locations as required.
