Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree. A combination of 4 years of experience in student financial aid, student personnel, student services, or related experience.
  • Proficiency with software including MS Word and Excel.
  • Willing to work evening and weekend events as required.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and customer focused.
  • Candidate must have superior project, communication, and time-management skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Must be capable of multi-tasking in a high-stress environment.
  • Must be able to prioritize work assignments to complete work within required time periods.
  • Must divest of any stock or ownership interest in student loan lender before start of employment.
  • Shares in publicly traded mutual fund or similar investment vehicle are exempt.
  • As a condition of hire and continued employment, must be in good standing on all federal student loans and must grant permission for the office to access NSLDS to verify such standing.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as point-of-contact and steward of financial wellness activities to university and community stakeholders. Plan and conduct various financial literacy and financial aid events and activities on and off campus, ensuring that stakeholder and leadership goals are met.
  • Supervise the Financial Wellness Peer Mentor program. Plan and deliver ongoing training, provide feedback and assessment of peer mentor work. Hire peer mentors and ensure that their skills and availability meet the needs of the office.
  • Conduct financial wellness appointments and presentations that assist students with educational and personal financial wellness issues, including FAFSA completion, financial aid processes, budgeting, credit management, debt reduction, and more.
  • Oversee the Financial Wellness digital resources. Plan and execute strategies for delivering digital content to students to meet the needs of students and leadership.
  • Assist OSFA with financial aid and scholarship processing, including monitoring output, verifying applicant eligibility and resolving eligibility issues. Review and resolve financial aid and scholarship files. Award state, university, and federal financial aid funds to students.
  • Perform the duties of a Texas One Stop counselor during peak times.
  • Other related functions as assigned.

  • Knowledge of and proficiency with software including MS Word and Excel.
  • Ideal candidate will be able to set priorities and manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to remain productive in a fast-paced, shared space environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to make presentations to individuals and groups of various sizes.
  • Spanish-speaking.
