Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in sales compensation, incentive design, sales operations, or Sales Finance, or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, advanced formulas, and modeling, with strong analytical and quantitative abilities.
  • Experience working with customer relationship management systems such as Salesforce and at least one compensation or commission tool or payroll system.
  • Strong stakeholder management and written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex rules to non-technical audiences.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to meet strict deadlines in a recurring payout cadence.
Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain compensation models and simulations to quantify plan outcomes and impacts on business metrics.
  • Identify root causes, evaluate complex information, develop practical and scalable solutions, anticipate potential issues, assess risks and trade-offs, and resolve challenges while balancing business needs, processes, and stakeholder priorities.
  • Design and document sales compensation plans, commission rules, quota constructs, accelerators, and special incentive programs aligned to business objectives.
  • Configure, test, and administer compensation in commission systems and customer relationship management or enterprise resource planning integrations, and manage monthly and quarterly payout calculations and recoupments.
  • Reconcile commissions to bookings, revenue, and payroll, and lead root-cause analysis for variances and disputes.
  • Produce regular reporting and dashboards for leadership, including payout projections, plan cost forecasts, attainment analysis, and incentive return on investment.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for sales compensation inquiries and prepare compensation statements and participant communications.
  • Partner with Sales Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Legal, and Payroll to ensure compliance, data integrity, tax and treatment considerations, and smooth payout flow.
  • Lead or participate in plan change communications, sales enablement, and training for sales leaders and representatives.
  • Maintain detailed plan documentation, business rules, and Architecture Decision Records for auditability and governance.
  • Drive process improvements and automation opportunities to increase accuracy and reduce cycle time.
  • Support mergers and acquisitions, territory and quota redesigns, and ad hoc analysis for incentive program proposals.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with incentive platforms such as Xactly, Anaplan, SAP Commissions, Callidus/Commissions, or similar platforms.
  • SQL and data manipulation skills, and familiarity with business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
  • A background in software-as-a-service or technology sales compensation, quota setting, or territory management.
  • Certifications in compensation, finance, or data analytics, preferred but not required.
  • A bachelor's degree plus an advanced degree such as an MBA or master's degree, or a professional certification such as CPA or CMA.
