Requirements
  • Ability to develop, review, and execute work plans for construction activities.
  • Ability to lead subcontractor pre-installation meetings, construction mock-ups, and subcontractor site orientations.
  • Ability to ensure project sites and company assets are properly used, stored, and secured.
  • Ability to oversee the ordering, delivery, storage, tracking, and utilization of equipment and materials, including rental equipment, and verify and code related invoices.
  • Ability to verify basic surveying, layout, and field measurements, including lines, corners, elevations, grades, alignments, angles, positions, and distances.
  • Ability to facilitate safety pre-task meetings, enforce the job site safety plan, and ensure adherence to company safety policies.
  • Ability to assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with progress and cost reports, construction schedules, completion requirements, and owner-architect-contractor meetings.
  • Ability to schedule and coordinate subcontractors and suppliers, including verifying insurance, layout, materials, quantities, productivity, and schedule compliance.
  • Ability to investigate field coordination and conflict issues, recommend resolutions or Requests for Information, and support the Request for Information process.
  • Ability to produce daily and weekly field observations with written reports, progress photographs, and summaries.
  • Ability to anticipate construction challenges, work interference, and schedule difficulties, then develop and implement corrective plans and actions.
  • Ability to schedule and manage timely inspections throughout the building process.
  • Ability to administer and document the project Quality Assurance program.
  • Ability to schedule, supervise, track, and document punch-list resolution and proper project turnover.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with owners, subcontractors, owners’ representatives, architects, engineers, suppliers, inspectors, and project employees.
  • Ability to act with integrity while supporting company values and meeting or exceeding customer requirements and expectations.
  • Ability to demonstrate organization, attention to detail, and a systematic approach to accuracy and efficiency.
Responsibilities
  • Manage field operations autonomously on construction projects, either supporting a Superintendent on larger projects or working independently on smaller projects.
  • Acquire and apply knowledge of plans, specifications, estimates, schedules, critical path elements, and project sequencing and phasing.
  • Promote the company’s safety culture and help ensure that project personnel understand and practice high safety standards.
Desired Qualifications
  • Journeyman Carpenter experience or a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Three to five years of construction experience in Life Sciences/Technology, Education, Healthcare, or Structures/Interiors/Tenant Improvements within the Bay Area.
  • Basic understanding of all trades, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Exposure to ground-up construction or significant structural work.
  • Understanding of the building permit process.
  • Understanding of California Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements for a construction site.
  • OSHA 30 training and Safety Trained Supervisor training are preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and make decisions under tight deadlines.
  • Experience utilizing project management and computer systems and following established processes and procedures.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to manage diverse personalities.
