Requirements
  • Minimum of 4–7 years of professional software development experience
  • Strong experience with Java and object-oriented programming principles
  • Hands-on experience with Spring and building or maintaining Web Services / APIs
  • Practical experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases, including writing and optimizing queries
  • Proven ability using Git and working with modern development workflows
  • Experience of working in an agile development environment
  • Experienced in use of CI/CD pipelines and deploying or supporting client facing applications in production environments
  • Proven proficiency lead operational efficiency improvements through testing, code quality, and ease of maintenance
  • Excellent communication skills and proven experience collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and Leadership
  • A proactive mindset and a desire to continue learning and improving as an engineer
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services for our ECommerce platform, delivering features, enhancements, and bug fixes with a good level of independence
  • Collaborate with teammates to understand requirements and translate them into well-structured technical solutions
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following established engineering standards and best practices
  • Participate actively in code reviews, providing thoughtful feedback and incorporating feedback from others
  • Contribute to agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives
  • Work with QA and DevOps to ensure changes are tested, deployed, and monitored effectively
  • Help improve system reliability, performance, and scalability through incremental enhancements
  • Build a strong understanding of our ECommerce domain and backend architecture over time
  • Share knowledge within the team and support less experienced engineers through collaboration and example
Desired Qualifications
  • Proven experience using AWS, Kafka messaging systems, and containerized applications is preferred
