Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • The employee must commit to working four days per week.
  • The employee must make an upcoming-semester class schedule that meets the Boys & Girls Club's scheduling needs, if applicable.
  • The employee must commit to working at the Club during the summer.
  • The employee must be able to work within the Club's school-year operating hours.
  • The employee must be able to work within the Club's summer operating hours.
  • The employee must understand, implement, and demonstrate behavior-management principles and other youth-treatment modalities in accordance with Club training and values.
  • The employee must have the mental and physical capacity to observe, interact, and communicate with youth, staff, and volunteers to ensure safety, provide guidance, and support Club outcomes and goals.
  • The employee must be able to stand or sit for long periods throughout a shift.
  • The employee must be able to operate general office equipment, including a personal computer, telephone, and copier.
  • The position is safety-sensitive.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in enforcing rules, modeling positive behavior, and serving as a friend and mentor for young people.
  • Oversee daily operations of recreation areas, including maintaining safety equipment, cleaning facilities, displaying appropriate signage, and operating a computer as necessary.
  • Organize and facilitate recreational activities, including daily games, physical fitness events, arts and crafts, and daily musical instruction.
  • Encourage members to participate in activities and form healthy relationships by greeting and introducing new members, encouraging group activities, and providing oversight to ensure fair treatment.
  • Assess group dynamics and collaborate with leadership personnel to create activities that support relationship building, positive social interaction, and improved self-confidence.
  • Complete required paperwork, incident reports, progress evaluations, and activity assessments.
  • Foster collaboration and leadership among participants by adding activities that promote teamwork and encouraging participants to pursue responsibility.
  • Ensure that all program activities follow the Club's policies and procedures.
  • Maintain the safety and security of youth in the facility.
  • Attend all monthly all-staff meetings, biweekly one-on-one meetings, and team meetings.
  • Assist the supervisor in creating and accomplishing trimester performance-plan goals by the end of each trimester.
  • Provide daily feedback to the supervisor about the day's activities and ways to improve programs and the space.
  • Implement the five key elements for positive youth development.
  • Exhibit the Club values of excellence, impact-driven work, teamwork, and good character.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
