Requirements
  • Have an MD, PharmD, PhD, or other terminal scientific degree with 2 or more years of prior industry experience.
  • Demonstrate strong baseline medical writing skills and an understanding of the healthcare communications space.
  • Possess a strong desire to drive strategic development, lead a team, and work across a variety of new projects.
  • Have a desire to become the medical expert for assigned brands.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the Medical Brand Lead for assigned brands and develop and strategically align medical content with brand objectives.
  • Act as the primary medical contact for the client and ensure the scientific accuracy, quality, and timeliness of ongoing brand projects.
  • Mentor Medical Writers and Senior Medical Writers and potentially manage direct reports.
  • Be accountable for assigned projects and assume a greater volume than Senior Medical Writers or Medical Writers.
  • Oversee and create brand content, including reviewing content developed by Senior Medical Writers and Medical Writers for scientific accuracy and alignment with strategy and client objectives.
  • Write and annotate content as appropriate.
  • Ensure projects, including those led by direct reports, meet internal and external timelines and agreed deadlines.
  • Track ongoing projects and assess and escalate anticipated resource needs.
  • Understand brand strategy and proactively provide recommendations for planned projects to internal and external teams.
  • Act as the primary medical voice during external kickoff meetings and work with the manager to resolve medically relevant questions.
  • Assess the time required to complete the full range of agency deliverables.
  • Own the medical portion of client or key opinion leader calls, advisory boards, and onsite meetings.
  • Communicate directly with clients and key opinion leaders regarding medical work status and clarification of requirements.
  • Attend client and review meetings to answer queries, capture comments, and support clients in presenting new ideas or concepts or defending agency work.
  • Build client rapport and maintain trust through strategic recommendations.
  • Partner with the manager and Account team to provide a strategically aligned agency team for client meetings.
  • Oversee project-status communications for projects owned by the role and direct reports.
  • Coordinate with internal Medical and Account teams to ensure coverage during absences and potential emergency work.
  • Communicate outside normal working hours when necessary.
  • Model agency processes across project planning, content development and routing, and internal communications.
  • Act as Medical Brand Lead during internal meetings and accurately assess and communicate completion times to the broader brand team and shared services.

BGB Group, a commercial solutions company for biopharmaceutical firms, has acquired Hayden Consulting Group, a market access and patient services consultancy. Financial terms were not disclosed. Hayden specialises in resolving complex payer, reimbursement and affordability challenges for global pharmaceutical brands. The acquisition combines Hayden's market access expertise with BGB's strategic advisory services, which span commercial due diligence, new product planning and go-to-market strategies. Hayden will continue to be led by co-founders Jamie Sidore and David MacDougall, becoming part of BGB's strategic advisory practice headed by Hilary Gentile.
