Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least 180 days of experience in one of the listed mental health, behavioral health, emergency medical, medical assistant, patient care, home health, nursing assistant, or crisis intervention roles is required.
  • Maintain current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification.
  • Obtain and maintain current Handle with Care certification within 90 days of hire.
Responsibilities
  • Document observations on assigned patients accurately and according to hospital and unit procedures.
  • Communicate appropriate information about patients’ conditions to the Registered Nurse and other healthcare team members.
  • Assist with nursing education groups.
  • Complete assigned morning and evening care, take vital signs, perform phlebotomy, supervise the patient-care milieu, assist nursing and other disciplinary teams, and assist with admissions and discharges.
  • Demonstrate competency in unit-specific tasks and skills.
  • Transport and deliver items, equipment, and medications throughout the facility, excluding controlled substances and intravenous chemotherapy drugs.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance consistent with applicable policies and legal standards.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Participate in assigned nursing Performance Improvement activities.
  • Demonstrate awareness of legal issues, patient rights, and regulatory and accrediting standards.
  • Use supplies efficiently.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized unit.
  • Receive and process incoming calls, patient calls, and guest requests.
  • Provide age-appropriate care by applying knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan, assessing patient-status data, identifying age-specific needs, and delivering care according to unit, area, and department policies and procedures.
