Requirements
  • One year of prior experience working in manufacturing, foundry, metals, or a related field is required.
  • A High School Diploma is required; the employer can assist through its GED works program.
  • The ability to push, pull, lift, and move up to 60 pounds is required.
  • Basic math and problem-solving skills are required.
  • The ability to work safely and support the safety of others is required.
  • Applicants must satisfy U.S. export-control eligibility requirements as a U.S. Person or the employer must obtain any necessary export license.
  • Applicants must demonstrate alignment with trust, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement values.
Responsibilities
  • Operate molding machines and set cores.
  • Assemble and prepare sand molds for pouring.
  • Inspect and prepare patterns and set up mold production.
  • Coordinate and communicate with melt and molding lines.
  • Perform quality inspections on castings and patterns.
  • Maintain a clean workspace, perform ladle repairs, and prepare for the next production run.
  • Transport melting materials and supplies to the melt deck.
  • Operate melting furnace charging equipment and learn to operate melting furnaces.
  • Remove full slag hoppers from the melt deck and transport them to commercial refuse containers.
  • Make and prepare sand cores using molds to form holes or hollows in iron castings, including equipment setup, adjustments, and troubleshooting.
  • Enter settings into the computer system.
  • Review process sheets and inspect core conditions.
  • Complete preventative maintenance as required.
  • Grind iron castings to specifications.
  • Use power tools including robots, hand grinders, stationary grinders, and pencil grinders.
  • Perform wheel changes.
  • Record data and complete paperwork.
