Job Description Summary

This position supports the research activities within Dr. Ali’s lab, focusing on the fundamental laboratory techniques, animal husbandry and data analysis. The role involves assisting with various experiments and tasks to ensure smooth daily operations while contributing to ongoing research projects. Ideal candidates will possess a keen interest in scientific inquiry and a willingness to learn in a collaborative environment.

Job Description

The Laboratory Technician will support research activities. This position involves performing routine laboratory experiments, including work with primary mast cell cultures, as well as assisting with animal husbandry and genotyping. The technician will contribute to data collection and analysis, maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, and ensure smooth day-to-day lab operations. The role requires good communication skills, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a research environment.

Job Responsibilities

50% Assist with performing routine in vitro and in vivo experiments

20% Care, breeding and genotyping of mice

10% Data entry and maintenance of lab supplies and records

10% Maintain, calibrate and clean lab equipment

10% Other duties as assigned. Provide and maintain expertise in innovative solutions focused on the responsible stewardship of Penn Dental Medicine and its community experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma and 1 to 2 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
