Requirements
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in a related field from an ABET-accredited engineering program and at least 3 years of relevant experience, including 3 years in the Department of Defense; alternatively, 7 years of directly related experience, including 5 years in the Department of Defense.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • A Secret security clearance is required.
  • Experience with systems and avionics engineering across requirements, design, integration, testing, and airworthiness.
  • Experience applying systems engineering processes, including configuration management, interface integration, and verification and validation.
  • Expertise in avionics and embedded systems, including MIL-STD-1553, RS-232, and ARINC 610 implementation.
  • Experience supporting technology integration, system safety, and lifecycle processes such as OSS&E, MIL-HDBK-516, and MIL-STD-882.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, leadership, stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to build productive relationships across government, industry, and academic organizations.
  • Ability to facilitate discussions, resolve issues, and drive consensus.
Responsibilities
  • Apply DoDD 5000-series guidance and AFMC/AFLCMC engineering policies to SOF acquisition engineering activities.
  • Support development and analysis of system and subsystem requirements and translate them into design criteria and system specifications.
  • Conduct technical planning, system integration analyses, trade studies, and risk assessments across weapon system platforms.
  • Assist in developing system performance requirements, integration objectives, and estimates for design, development, and sustainment.
  • Review engineering proposals, designs, specifications, and change packages and provide recommendations to optimize cost, schedule, and performance.
  • Conduct engineering evaluations supporting airworthiness under MIL-HDBK-516, safety under MIL-STD-882, and Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness.
  • Support engineering reviews, design reviews, technical interchange meetings, working groups, and program reviews by providing technical input, documentation, and reporting.
  • Support systems and avionics engineering across requirements, design, integration, development, modification, test, airworthiness, production, sustainment, deployment, operations, and divestiture.
  • Provide expertise in maintenance systems integration, design for test, diagnostics, and electronic support equipment.
  • Coordinate with acquisition organizations, higher headquarters, Department of Defense entities, laboratories, industry, and universities, and support documentation and emerging technology assessments.
  • Assist with avionics engineering for the design, development, manufacturing, integration, testing, and fielding of airborne weapon systems, embedded computing, software, and maintenance systems.
  • Apply systems engineering processes for airworthiness, requirements, software releases, metrics and traceability, allocations, program protection, technical reviews, configuration audits, design analysis, interface integration, and test verification and validation.
  • Support reviews, studies, performance requirement development, and avionics system-level integration documentation.
  • Ensure proper application of systems integration, interface management, testing, reliability and maintainability, accreditation, certification, technology transfer, manufacturing readiness, PESHE, and ESOH requirements.
  • Support development, deployment, and sustainment of technical processes that ensure safe operation and maintenance of systems.
  • Develop artifacts for systems integration, OSS&E, MIL-HDBK-516 airworthiness, MIL-STD-882 system safety, and lifecycle systems engineering under DAFI 63-1201.
  • Support development and sustainment of training systems, including modeling and simulation.
  • Apply MIL-STD-1553 and RS-232 standards in military training systems.
  • Apply ARINC 610 standards for avionics and software integration within military simulators.

Odyssey lands NVIDIA and Samsung backing to build AI world simulator

Odyssey, an AI research company developing frontier world models, has secured investment from NVentures, NVIDIA's venture capital arm, and Samsung Next. The funding will support development of a general-purpose world simulator capable of generating infinitely long, interactive simulations from any starting point. Founded two years ago, Odyssey recently released Odyssey-2 Pro, a world model that can be integrated into applications across robotics, gaming, education and defence. The investment adds to backing from GV, EQT, Air Street Capital and notable angel investors including Jeff Dean and Elad Gil. The company will use the capital to improve simulation length, quality and interactivity, whilst scaling infrastructure for training next-generation world models. Odyssey's research team includes talent from DeepMind, OpenAI, Tesla, Waymo and Meta.
