Requirements
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Solutions Architecture, Database Engineering, or a closely related field, with a significant portion spent on large-scale or enterprise-grade systems.
  • Expert-level knowledge of PostgreSQL — including internals, performance tuning, replication, extensions, and schema design. You should be comfortable going well beyond the basics.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex database migrations from a variety of source systems, including legacy relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL) as well as cloud-native and NoSQL platforms (Firebase, Fauna, PlanetScale, or similar).
  • Familiarity with AI application architecture, including vector databases, embedding pipelines, and similarity search. Experience with pgvector or similar vector storage solutions is a strong plus.
  • Experience supporting or architecting systems at significant scale — high-throughput, high-availability workloads where reliability and performance genuinely matter.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise security and compliance requirements, including Row Level Security, SOC 2, HIPAA, audit logging, and encryption standards. Experience with self-hosted or BYO cloud infrastructure deployments is a plus.
  • Strong background in web application development with familiarity across Python, C#, and popular JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, Svelte) and Node.js.
  • A proven track record of managing senior executive relationships and navigating complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise environments.
  • Exceptional communication skills — you can make complex Postgres internals legible to a CTO and translate business constraints into a coherent technical architecture.
  • Experience with HubSpot, BigQuery, or similar revenue and analytics tooling is a plus.
Responsibilities
  • Strategic Account Ownership: Build and maintain deep, trust-based relationships with senior technical and executive stakeholders across a focused portfolio of strategic accounts. Develop meaningful account plans that map Supabase capabilities to long-term customer objectives, identify expansion opportunities, and ensure customers continuously realize value at scale.
  • Scaled Performance & Reliability: Partner with customers operating at significant scale to ensure their systems perform reliably under production load. Proactively identify risks before they become incidents, lead performance tuning engagements, and work cross-functionally with Supabase Support, Engineering, and Product to resolve complex platform-level issues.
  • Postgres Architecture & Optimization: Serve as the resident Postgres expert for your accounts. Lead deep-dive architectural reviews, diagnose and resolve complex performance bottlenecks, advise on schema design, indexing strategies, query optimization, and connection management. Help customers confidently push the boundaries of what they can build on Postgres and Supabase.
  • Security, Compliance & Enterprise Deployment: Guide customers through Supabase's enterprise security capabilities, including Row Level Security (RLS) policy design, audit logging, SOC 2 and HIPAA compliance requirements, and encryption best practices. Support customers evaluating or operating on self-hosted and BYO cloud deployments, ensuring they can meet their organization's infrastructure, data residency, and compliance requirements.
  • Large-Scale Migrations: Guide strategic customers through migrations onto Postgres and Supabase from a wide range of source systems including legacy relational databases such as Oracle and SQL Server, as well as cloud-native and NoSQL platforms like Firebase, Fauna, and PlanetScale. Own the technical migration strategy end-to-end, from assessment and planning through execution and post-migration stabilization.
  • Executive & Stakeholder Engagement: Translate deeply technical outcomes into organizational impact for engineering leaders, CTOs, and executive buyers. Navigate multi-stakeholder environments with clarity and confidence, aligning technical strategy to business goals and advocating internally on behalf of your accounts.
  • AI & Vector Workloads: Partner with customers building AI-native applications on Supabase. Advise on vector storage architecture using pgvector, embedding pipeline design, and similarity search optimization. Help customers leverage Supabase's Vector and Analytics Buckets to build scalable, production-grade AI systems directly on Postgres.
  • Platform Advocacy: Serve as the voice of your customers inside Supabase. Surface patterns, friction points, and opportunities to Product and Engineering. Help shape the platform roadmap by grounding feedback in the real-world demands of your most sophisticated users.
  • Pre-Sales Support: Partner with the Growth team on strategic deals where deep technical credibility is required. Lead targeted discovery conversations, scope proof-of-value engagements for high-complexity workloads, and ensure prospective customers have a clear, confident path to production.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with AI application architecture, including vector databases, embedding pipelines, and similarity search. Experience with pgvector or similar vector storage solutions is a strong plus.
  • Experience with self-hosted or BYO cloud infrastructure deployments is a plus.
  • Experience with HubSpot, BigQuery, or similar revenue and analytics tooling is a plus.

What Supabase does: Supabase provides an open-source backend-as-a-service that gives developers real-time databases, authentication, and storage in the cloud so they can build scalable applications quickly and efficiently. How its product works: It offers managed backend services (database with real-time updates, user authentication, file storage) that integrate with an existing frontend or mobile app via APIs; developers can use a freemium model, starting with free basic services and upgrading to paid plans as usage or feature needs grow. How it differs from competitors: Its open-source nature allows deeper customization and community-driven improvements, and it emphasizes high uptime and reliability for mission-critical apps, with a seamless integration into existing workflows. What its goal is: To simplify and speed up the development of scalable apps by providing a ready-to-use, flexible backend that developers can customize and extend.

Laravel founder Taylor Otwell has become an angel investor, participating in three startup investments including a $200 million Series D round in Supabase Inc., a Singapore and Silicon Valley-based tech company. The round was led by Accel, which previously led Laravel's $57 million funding round in 2024. Otwell said the Supabase investment aligned with Laravel's mission, as both companies aim to make web development accessible and powerful. Laravel developers already use Supabase's platform. Beyond Supabase, Otwell has invested in Swedish AI company Lovable and San Francisco-based Treeline. He said he's interested in supporting early-stage founders and new ideas, drawing on his own experience building Laravel from Little Rock, Arkansas.
