- The candidate must provide a portfolio of short-form vertical work, such as Reels, TikToks, or Shorts, ideally for a brand, team, or creator account in sports, athletics, or lifestyle.
- The candidate must have experience shooting handheld in fast, unpredictable settings such as sidelines, courtside, and crowded venues, with consistent focus, framing, and exposure.
- The candidate must be proficient in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or CapCut Pro and understand hooks, pacing, sound design, and platform-specific best practices for vertical video.
- The candidate must be able to anticipate shots, read a game or event in real time, and identify moments that will cut well in post-production.
- The candidate must have prior experience shooting content for a team, league, club, or sports brand.
- The candidate must have a reliable system for managing cards, backups, folder structure, and file naming so assets remain organized and retrievable.
- The candidate must have working knowledge of Descript, Runway, or CapCut artificial intelligence features.
- The candidate must be based in Houston, Texas, have reliable transportation to shoots across the Houston metropolitan area, and have United States work authorization.
- The candidate must own or have access to a professional camera setup, including a mirrorless or cinema body, lenses, audio equipment, and basic lighting.
- The candidate will capture video at youth sports tournaments, practices, games, and brand events across Houston and surrounding areas, planning coverage so each shoot produces multiple usable pieces of content.
- The candidate will capture player highlights, behind-the-scenes moments, athlete and coach interviews, atmosphere, and B-roll footage.
- The candidate will edit Reels, TikToks, and YouTube Shorts for each platform, handling pacing, sound design, captions, and on-screen text so each piece is ready to post.
- The candidate will manage footage organization, file backups, and a searchable archive of raw and edited assets.
- The candidate will track social trends, viral formats, and new editing techniques and apply them to produced content.
- The candidate will deliver same-day or next-day edits on event content so it can be published while the moment remains relevant.
- The candidate can build graphics, lower thirds, and animated text in After Effects or directly in the editor.
- The candidate can capture still photographs during shoots and deliver photo assets alongside video.
- The candidate is comfortable conducting short interviews with athletes, coaches, or parents.
Texas Sports Academy is a private school model designed for serious student-athletes in grades three through eleven. It combines accelerated, personalized academics in the morning with extended athletic coaching and practical life-skills development in the afternoon. Programs use mastery-based learning and sport-specific instruction to help students pursue academic progress without treating training as an after-school add-on.
