Requirements
  • A nursing degree from an accredited college or university, or graduation from an approved Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse program, is required.
  • A current, unencumbered, active Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse license in the state is required.
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification is required.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to residents and supervise the day-to-day nursing activities of nursing assistants.
  • Direct nursing assistants’ day-to-day functions and ensure compliance with facility policies, procedures, job descriptions, regulations, and nursing standards.
  • Plan shift services, programs, activities, work assignments, and staffing requirements with nursing and support personnel.
  • Review and recommend revisions to department policies, procedure manuals, job descriptions, and nursing procedures.
  • Prepare written and oral reports and recommendations concerning shift activities.
  • Coordinate nursing services with resident services and other departments to maintain each resident’s total care regimen.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs, facility surveys, discharge planning, and resident care-plan development and revision.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents; complete admission, transfer, discharge, accident, incident, census, charge, medical, and other administrative records.
  • Receive physician telephone orders, transcribe orders, maintain resident charts, document nursing care and resident responses, and report discrepancies.
  • Prepare and administer physician-ordered medications and treatments, verify resident identity, maintain medication and narcotic records, order supplies, and report discrepancies.
  • Participate in employee performance evaluations and make staffing, transfer, and dismissal recommendations to the Nurse Supervisor.
  • Provide leadership to assigned nursing personnel, conduct unit rounds, identify problem areas, and report them to the Nurse Supervisor.
  • Orient, train, and provide in-service education to nursing personnel and assist with clinical supervision of nurse aide trainees.
  • Inform staff about new admissions and resident needs; prepare rooms, greet and orient residents and families, and coordinate admissions.
  • Make physician rounds, arrange diagnostic and therapeutic services, consult with physicians, and review charts for treatments, medications, and diets.
  • Monitor residents’ physical and emotional status, prescribed treatments, vital signs, serious illnesses, accidents, incidents, and changes in condition.
  • Provide or oversee nursing procedures including catheterization, tube feedings, suctioning, dressing changes, colostomy and drainage-bag care, specimen collection, and range-of-motion exercises.
  • Carry out restorative and rehabilitative programs and ensure direct care follows resident care plans and wishes.
  • Notify physicians and next of kin about accidents, incidents, and changes in residents’ conditions.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and sanitary nursing areas and ensure personnel follow infection-control, safety, and equipment-use procedures.
  • Maintain adequate medication, medical supply, equipment, and personal protective equipment stocks and recommend unit supply needs.
  • Review resident care plans daily, ensure care-plan compliance, and assist with Minimum Data Set assessments and related care-planning processes.
  • Report suspected fraud, unauthorized access, occupational exposures, hazardous conditions, and other incidents according to facility procedures.
  • Attend required continuing education, annual in-service training, advance-directive training, and professional development programs.

PACS Group acquires Alaska care facility, plans 150-bed skilled nursing centre by 2028

PACS Group has appointed Carey P. Hendrickson as chief financial officer, effective 27 April 2026. Hendrickson brings nearly four decades of financial leadership across healthcare, senior living and media sectors. Most recently, Hendrickson served as CFO of U.S. Physical Therapy, overseeing 779 outpatient clinics across 44 states. PACS Group has announced that co-founder and chief financial officer Mark Hancock will retire on 30 June 2026. He will continue serving on the company's board of directors as vice chairman. Hancock co-founded PACS in 2013 with Jason Murray, starting with two post-acute care facilities in San Diego. PACS Group, a leading post-acute healthcare platform, has appointed Dr Patrick Conway to its board of directors. Dr Conway currently serves as CEO of Optum, UnitedHealth Group's health services division with revenues exceeding $200 billion.
