  • Active Alabama Pharmacy Technician registration by start date
  • National Pharmacist Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or ExCPT certification required
  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 1+ years in medication reimbursement, insurance preauthorization, patient assistance programs, and URAC/ACHC accreditation standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, pharmacy equipment, and pharmacology (medication classes).
  • Strong interpersonal, telephone, and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on follow-up and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
  • Working conditions require ability to stand, walk, reach, sit, crouch and stoop for extended periods; ability to carry objects weighing 35 pounds; good motor coordination; onsite presence; normal or corrected hearing and vision; able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
Responsibilities
  • Support committee work by running reports, preparing scorecards, and documenting meeting notes for quarterly Quality Management Committee and annual Patient Access Council meetings.
  • Provide annual reporting by compiling quality reports and Quality Management Committee summaries to track performance trends.
  • Ensure all pharmacy policies and procedures are updated to maintain accreditation standards and oversee annual compliance requirements such as fire drills, hazard training, and business continuity testing.
  • Complete daily insurance audits and assist with annual 340B audits for contract pharmacy prescriptions.
  • Perform clinical verification by auditing patient assessments and temperature monitoring records for timely completion.
  • Manage communication and compliance logs, maintain current patient-facing materials, and track incident reports while ensuring HR has necessary audit documentation, including staff license verifications.
  • Manage day-to-day operations for Medication Access Specialists and Medication Assistant Coordinators within the Drug Recovery Program; resolve scheduling conflicts and ensure yearly competency training; maintain policies for access and recovery teams to ensure adherence to retail financial assistance guidelines.
  • Monitor and ensure all outstanding pharmacy claims are paid in a timely manner; provide operational assistance to Pharmacists, Physicians, and Nurses regarding Celgene prescriptions and specialized medication access; audit and verify all records within the Drug Recovery Program to ensure ongoing program integrity and compliance.
  • Manage the pharmacy website and internal communication materials to ensure organizational charts and hazard protocols are up to date; perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Outpatient Pharmacy Services to support departmental goals and efficiency.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
