  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • At least one year of coaching experience is required.
  • National Federation of State High School Associations Fundamentals of Coaching Certification is required.
  • The candidate must have strong communication and interpersonal skills to relate effectively with students, coaches, staff, physicians, parents, teachers, and administrators.
  • The candidate must have strong organizational skills and be able to manage multiple assignments and priorities simultaneously.
  • The candidate must be able to work flexible hours, including frequent evenings and weekends.
  • The candidate must be able to walk, stand, dance, run, bend, crouch, reach, lift, and carry.
  • The candidate may need to travel to various locations, including neighbor islands, to conduct business.
Responsibilities
  • Coach and instruct student-athletes, teach individual and team skills, and evaluate athlete and team performance and progress.
  • Organize and supervise well-planned, safe, and efficient practices and games, utilize coaching staff effectively, and prepare the team for competitions.
  • Serve as an ethical and professional role model, motivate and inspire players, and maintain encouraging conduct.
  • Develop team concepts within the organization's values-driven framework and promote sportsmanship and respect for game rules and officials.
  • Help athletes reach their full potential and provide an enjoyable team environment and experience.
  • Resolve disciplinary issues; ensure student-athlete medical and academic eligibility; complete grade checks, records, timesheets, and human resources requirements.
  • Assist with equipment, uniforms, locker room coordination, sport planning and budgeting, and equipment inventory.
  • Communicate with athletes, parents, faculty, administrators, coaches, and the community, and provide information to the school and media in a timely manner.
  • Promote the program in local and state communities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Participation in high school or collegiate athletics is preferred.
  • High school or collegiate coaching experience is preferred.
  • Sensitivity to Hawaiian culture and Christian values is preferred.
