Requirements
  • A BA/BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 10 years of experience in software engineering, infrastructure engineering, distributed systems, site reliability engineering, production engineering, or reliability engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a technical leadership, architect, or principal-level engineering role.
  • Experience designing, building, or operating large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience defining or driving reliability standards such as service-level objectives, service-level indicators, uptime targets, incident reduction, or operational readiness frameworks.
  • Understanding of high availability, redundancy, fault tolerance, failure modes, and resiliency patterns.
  • Experience influencing architecture and engineering practices across multiple teams or organizations.
  • Software engineering experience in one or more languages such as Java, Go, C++, Python, or a similar language.
Responsibilities
  • Define and drive company-wide reliability strategy, standards, and best practices across LinkedIn Engineering.
  • Lead adoption and evolution of service criticality models that set reliability expectations based on business impact and blast radius.
  • Serve as a technical authority for architecture decisions related to reliability, resiliency, availability, and failure handling.
  • Partner with infrastructure and product engineering teams to improve system design, reduce incident risk, and strengthen operational readiness.
  • Identify high-risk systems and drive cross-organizational initiatives to improve reliability of critical services.
  • Establish and evolve reliability standards including service-level objectives, service-level indicators, uptime expectations, redundancy, monitoring, alerting, and failover patterns.
  • Influence engineering culture by promoting reliability-focused design, incident review rigor, and postmortem-driven improvements.
  • Provide architectural guidance and mentorship to senior engineers and technical leaders across teams.
  • Balance technical strategy, hands-on engineering judgment, and cross-functional influence to drive measurable improvements in site stability.
  • Help shape how LinkedIn builds and operates resilient systems as the platform continues to scale.
  • Drive the strategy for applying large language models to alert triage, root cause analysis, and incident summarization at scale, ensuring systems are explainable, auditable, and safe to operate autonomously in Ring0/Ring1 environments.

  • Experience defining reliability, safety, or governance standards for AI-enabled systems, agentic workflows, or AI-assisted software development.
  • Familiarity with large language model and agent evaluation, production monitoring, guardrails, human oversight, and rollback strategies for autonomous systems.

LinkedIn shuts Israel office, lays off nearly all 50 staff after $80M Oribi acquisition

LinkedIn is closing its Tel Aviv development centre and laying off nearly all of its roughly 50 employees. A small number will remain temporarily to handle ongoing business activities. The Microsoft-owned company opened the office in 2022 after acquiring Oribi, an Israel-based analytics startup founded by Iris Shoor, for an estimated $80 million to $90 million. At the time, LinkedIn said Oribi's technology would improve campaign attribution and measure website conversions. A LinkedIn spokesperson said the company is proposing changes to some roles to focus its teams on top priorities. The closure comes as Microsoft cuts costs, including a recent move to lay off 9,000 employees, though available information does not directly tie the Israel layoffs to broader restructuring.

LinkedIn launches paid advice sessions for premium users to monetise expertise

LinkedIn is rolling out a new feature for premium business subscribers that allows them to offer paid one-to-one advice sessions directly from their profiles. The tool, called Advice Sessions, enables followers to book and pay for consultations without leaving the platform. Derek Notman, founder of Intrepid Wealth Partners, said the feature could be particularly valuable for financial advisers seeking growth through new client connections. "It allows me to offer whatever services I want and get paid for it," Notman said. The launch comes as North American wealth managers have enjoyed annual growth rates of about 10% in assets under management over the past decade, though only 30% of that growth was organic, with the rest mainly attributable to market performance.

Microsoft's $20B ad business gets new leader as AI reshapes advertising landscape
