POSITION – Union: Utility Service Representative

NUMBER OF POSITIONS AVAILABLE: 2

LOCATION: CT - East Hartford - Meadow St

WAGE RANGE: $45.30 - $53.12 (NO LICENSE), $46.34 - $54.16 (WITH LICENSE G1-2), $46.73 - $54.56 (WITH LICENSE S1-4, P1-2)

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must possess all qualifications and satisfactorily perform all the duties of Service Representative A.
• Must have demonstrated knowledge of piping/plumbing practices.
• Must understand and demonstrate knowledge of safe practice in his work.
• Must have demonstrated knowledge of principles of gas combustion and utilization.
• Must have demonstrated knowledge of gas pressure, gas pipe sizing, meters, regulators and orifice sizing.
• Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions,
• Must be physically able to perform all duties required.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English effectively.
• Must have a valid Connecticut MVD license.

DUTIES:

• *Adjusts, regulates, cleans and repairs pilots, burners, orifices, controls and accessories on all appliances including central heat, dual fuel and air conditioning.
• *Inspects, installs and corrects appliance installations, including service, regulators, meters, meter connections, house piping, appliance and venting facilities.
• *Installs parts on appliances.
• *Accepts orders from customers for appliance parts and accessories.
• *Works a fixed shift.
• *Installs new and used appliances.
• *Delivers and returns appliances.
• *Installs, repairs and maintains gas, water, vents and other piping.
• *Has full responsibility for performing work safely and in a satisfactory manner.
• *Has responsibility of maintaining truck and tools in orderly condition; maintaining truck stock in accordance with prescribed requirements.
• *Does work of meterman, directs the work of servicemen, helper and performs other miscellaneous Customer Service work as required.
• *Inspects gas facilities on customers' premises for safety and adherence to State and Federal codes.

THIS IS A DOT SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION.  ANY APPLICANT TRANSFERRING INTO THIS DEPARTMENT FROM A NON-SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION WILL BE REQUIRED TO PASS A PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG SCREEN AND A RESPIRATOR MEDICAL QUALIFICATION TEST.
