Requirements
  • Completion of secondary school.
  • Completion of a four-year Truck and Transport Technician Apprenticeship.
  • At least 4 years of work experience.
  • Red Seal Trade Certification.
  • Superior mechanical aptitude with in-depth knowledge of heavy-duty truck repairs.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong personal organizational skills for managing workload, time, and priorities in an unsupervised environment.
Responsibilities
  • Inspect, diagnose, repair, and service mechanical and electrical systems and components of commercial transport trucks.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components on commercial transport truck and trailer vehicle systems.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance services, including oil changes, lubrication, and tune-ups.
  • Use original equipment manufacturer-specified diagnostic procedures to diagnose and repair defects in chassis and drivetrain systems in a timely manner.
  • Perform diagnostic road tests.
  • Communicate diagnostic findings and repair plans accurately with the supervisor.
  • Remain accountable to the Service Manager and Shop Foreman for all work performed.
  • Tag warranty parts and customer parts as required.
  • Provide training and leadership for Registered Apprentices as a Journeyman Technician.
  • Participate in training programs provided by Peterbilt and outside vendors.
  • Perform other assigned duties and projects.
Desired Qualifications
  • A valid inspection ticket to perform commercial vehicle inspections.
  • A valid Class 1 or Class 3 driver's license with airbrake endorsement.
  • Detail-oriented work style.
