Requirements
  • A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse is required.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification is required, either from the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers or an American Red Cross CPR/AED certification for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
  • Registered nurses hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an associate or diploma degree in nursing must enroll in an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing program within two years and obtain the degree within four years of the hire or reclassification date.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods, perform fine motor tasks, lift and move patients or equipment, and navigate clinical environments.
  • Visual acuity and color perception to read medical charts, documents, and monitors.
  • Auditory ability to communicate effectively and perceive alarms or patient instructions.
  • Stamina to handle the physical and emotional demands of patient care, including long shifts and stressful situations.
  • Compliance with infection control protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care to patients using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Direct and lead assigned team members and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide age- and developmentally appropriate care.
  • Provide patient- and family-centered care addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs.
  • Develop nursing diagnoses, identify outcomes, plan and implement interventions, coordinate care, provide health teaching and promotion, and evaluate goals and interventions.
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment through patient privacy and responsive, respectful, accepting, and professional behavior.
  • Participate in shared governance, peer review, professional development, and a professional practice model.
  • Apply care management principles to coordinate effective and efficient delivery of patient care services.
  • Identify clinical priorities and initiate actions to improve patient outcomes.
  • Promote a healthy work environment and take personal responsibility for professional growth.
