Requirements
  • Current enrollment in an Associate Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.
  • Certified Nurse Assistant certification, enrollment in nursing school with one semester of clinicals completed, or at least two years of relevant nursing assistant work experience.
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification, or the ability to obtain it during the nursing team onboarding process.
Responsibilities
  • Perform and document nursing care measures under the direction of a registered nurse, including hygiene, comfort, mobility, nutrition, elimination, ostomy care, admissions, transfers, discharges, and post-mortem care.
  • Respond promptly to patient call lights and requests.
  • Perform and document monitoring procedures, including vital signs, weights, drainage measurements, blood glucose monitoring, and observation and reporting of changes in patient condition.
  • Perform assigned therapeutic measures and procedures, including heat and cold applications, therapeutic baths, specimen collection, preparation for procedures, oxygen therapy, nonsterile dressings, peripheral intravenous discontinuation, oral pharyngeal suctioning, and telemetry patch application.
  • Record interventions and observe and report patient responses, changes, and deviations from normal parameters.
  • Maintain patient, family, self, and environmental safety by following standard precautions, using proper body mechanics, managing equipment and restraints as directed, maintaining privacy and confidentiality, and reporting concerns or equipment malfunctions.
  • Conduct purposeful hourly rounding and assist with keeping patient rooms and corridors clean and free of clutter.
  • Support efficient unit and hospital functioning through computer messaging, obtaining results, inventory management, compliance with policies and procedures, effective resource use, unit cleanliness, teamwork, and accurate task completion.
  • Handle floor-stock or pharmacy-delivered medications by moving them in original containers to secure storage or delivering them to appropriate licensed staff.
  • Perform additional unit-specific care tasks after receiving instruction and demonstrating competence.
  • Perform other related work as required or requested.
