Requirements

  • Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Understanding of design for manufacturability principles specific to steel fabrication.
  • Expertise in analytical, problem-solving, and detail-oriented work.
  • Ability to work independently with effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering for the engineering path.
  • A diploma or certificate in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Engineering Design and Drafting, or a related technical discipline for the design path.
  • Equivalent practical work experience may substitute for a diploma.
  • Proficiency in 3D computer-aided design software, specifically SolidWorks.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare weight distribution summaries and verify compliance with applicable transportation regulations.
  • Collaborate with sales teams to benchmark competitors and develop innovative trailer designs.
  • Generate detailed designs and validate them using SolidWorks and Finite Element Analysis.
  • Ensure all designs comply with Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, and other relevant standards.
  • Support production teams by providing clear guidance, troubleshooting assistance, and actionable design improvements.
  • Maintain proactive and professional communication with internal stakeholders and clients.
Desired Qualifications
  • Three years of mechanical design experience within manufacturing or related industries.
