Requirements
  • At least three years of residential lending sales experience, including consistently meeting established sales or production goals.
  • Strong verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work in a diverse community.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Basic ability to analyze personal and business financial documents.
  • Knowledge of regulatory, policy, and compliance issues pertaining to the mortgage industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of mortgage products and programs.
  • Analytical skills sufficient to evaluate credit requests and determine trends in a market.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • An associate degree.

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including percentages and debt ratios.
  • Ability to complete the Product/Service Knowledge Assessment within 90 days with a score of at least 80%.

Responsibilities
  • Produce high-quality loans that meet investor guidelines and Seattle Credit Union lending policy while providing member service.
  • Meet minimum sales production goals set by senior management.
  • Establish and maintain internal and external referral networks, including relationships with real estate brokers, attorneys, accountants, builders, financial planners, and other business professionals.
  • Promote residential loan products through regular contact with referral sources to generate new mortgage business.
  • Originate mortgage loans, pre-qualify borrowers, counsel prospective buyers, and match borrowers with appropriate programs.
  • Plan, coordinate, and participate in homeownership activities, including homebuyer seminars, home shows, broker meetings, and home financing workshops.
  • Maintain community involvement by serving on boards of organizations in approved areas to represent Seattle Credit Union in the local community.
  • Ensure the quality and timeliness of mortgage application documentation and follow up with applicants for needed information.
  • Maintain knowledge of Seattle Credit Union mortgage and other products and services, the mortgage industry, and state and federal mortgage laws and regulations.
  • Comply with SAFE Act requirements, including annual Mortgage Loan Originator registration renewal.
  • Generate accurate and timely loan disclosures in compliance with RESPA, Regulation Z, HMDA, and Regulation B.
  • Manage the loan pipeline, coordinate with processors on expected closing dates, and provide timely and accurate information to borrowers and real estate brokers.
  • Travel to outside locations for Seattle Credit Union events, application interviews, and training.
  • Work some hours before or after normal business hours for loan applications, training, and real estate community visits.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree.
  • Experience producing work that meets sales goals and compliance requirements under RESPA, Regulation Z, HMDA, and Regulation B.
  • Experience originating mortgage loans for FHLMC/FNMA, FHA, and VA programs.
  • Knowledge of the secondary market.
