Every intern will be paired with a senior member of our staff who will provide guidance and mentorship for the duration of the internship. Interns are considered contributing members of our project teams and participate in project meetings. So join us for a minimum length of six months. Start and end times can vary by role and are negotiable. Please check with your recruiter to discuss precise start and end dates accordingly.
Please note that the assigned workplace will be Munich for the time being. However, exceptions on case by case assessment are possible. In case COVID19 restrictions prevent us from hosting you onsite, internships will be conducted remotely. Nevertheless, due to tax purposes it is required to be based and registered in Germany during the employment. Any changes will be communicated to successful candidates in advance of their start date.
Meet the team:
The tracking team is responsible for developing and implementing algorithms for real-time scene understanding, by estimating a precise and temporally consistent representation of objects surrounding an automated vehicle. A good understanding of filtering and optimal control is needed, and the constraints inherent in a real-time system make highly optimized C++ code a necessity. As a result, the team consists of experts with broad technical backgrounds, including in Computing, Mathematics, Physics and Engineering, and is open to highly motivated candidates, interested in working in this interdisciplinary domain.

What you’ll do:
- Optimise object tracking performance in challenging situations
- Develop parameter optimization strategies
- Analyse performance, create test datasets, including ground-truth data
- Write Python / C++ code
What you'll need to succeed:
- Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related field
- Knowledge of programming in Python and C++
- A background in a mathematical subject, with a good grasp of linear algebra
- An interest in filtering, optimization and control
- An openness to learning and independent problem solving
Nice to haves:
- Experience with numerical optimization techniques.
- Experience in creating C++ Python bindings.
